I have a 2015 6.7. I have had a drip of oil from the oil pan probably since new. I have been parking on concrete for the past couple years and started noticing it.
I took it in twice.
The first time, the dealership tightened the oil pan bolts and said you’re good now. No success.
The second time they were to put a new gasket. I don’t know the process they used, but there is black rtv now.
It still drips a drop every time I park.
Does anyone have any experience at the dealership with this problem?
I was wondering if they actually lift the motor up to get the oil pan off?
I still have a few thousand miles left on the extended warranty. Thanks

The engine must be lifted to drop the pan,I would question what they did if you see rtv.
Place a piece of whit paper on the ground where the drip will hit.Take the paper into the service manager and ask that it be repaired properly this time

Andy_dirt,
I had a leak on my 2015 6.7, around the bell housing and dripping out the inspection plate on the bottom not to mention around the housing inside, was blowing all over the front of the trans pan. Would wipe it off and a week or so later it was back. Where is it leaking from? Mine was the rear main crank seal. Took it in just prior to the 3 yr. 36,000 expiring. Dealer had it for two weeks +, they did call me every couple days with updates. No issues since. Good luck with it, have they checked the main?

Thanks for the input. There is definitely black rtv but the invoice shows a new gasket also. I looked in the inspection cover. It is clean. There is a little oil up in the corner as far as I can see, but the cover facing inward is spotless.
The accumulation of a drip of oil usually sits on one of the pan bolts at the back of the motor. It seeps down and has some on the bottom lip of the outside of the inspection cover. There doesn’t appear to be any oil accumulation above the level of the oil pan
I know it’s a little nit picky but my concrete has about 50 drops on it.
The interesting thing is how they wrote up the service. Their records don’t show how many quarts of oil was replaced and they didn’t install a new oil filter.

Sounds like a rear main... My 06 did it and I did it when I pulled the trans for upgrades. transmission's got to come out to do it.

You need to go to a new Dealer and get the repair done right!!!

Crystal Chrysler in Cathedral City, CA a year ago replaced my front seal, it was really dripping. One year later dry as a bone!!!

If you can't get the dealer to fix it you can probably start a claim with customer care. Then maybe you can go down the road to Cody and the Boys over at Bare Knuckles Diesel and they can get you setup right!! and have dodge reimburse you for the hassle.

Good post. I have the same year of truck and have developed an oil leak. Not a super mechanical guy, but what does “rtv” stand for?

I got the truck back today. They replaced the rear main seal. It’s been parked a few hours and don’t see any oil so far. Apparently they had to replace the seal twice because it was still leaking after the first one. So far so good now. Thanks for the responses.

Take a look and see if there are two different part numbers charged out. It is more likely the cam seal was leaking and they diagnosed it as the rear main. If they didn't add dye first it is easy to do.
