Oil Level

I went to a Cummins dealer for an Oil Change today (cold outside ). They had a concern about the amount of oil they had to put in versus the level on the oil stick.



I saw some threads from a year ago but did anything change -



Is it 11 qts with the filter leaving the stick to show 1 qt low normal? Did Dodge ever address this issue?

Not sure about any "funny" dip sticks on the 01's and newer. My stick reads right at the full mark with 11 qts, including the filter.

11qts with a filter change brings mine to the mark on the dipstick.

11 QTs total, heck with the dipstick, mine allways reads overfull.

You know this does bring up a good point.



Take my 2000 vs my wifes 2001. Why is her dipstick longer then the one in my truck?



The dipstick in her truck is actually about 8" longer then the one in my truck... .



Makes no sense. Though after putting in 10 quarts of oil (and 1 in the filter), both trucks seem to read the same oil level
