A friend's 12V has been doing something strange lately. Oil pressure at highway speeds is 40-45 but when he gets to a hill and the engine is working (not lugging and still in the power band) the pressure drops to 30-35. Does this seem normal. I did a search for this and some have mentioned that the sending units can start acting up. Any other thoughts. Truck has about 92,000 on it.
Thanks for the info.

Jerry,
I believe there is a bypass if oil pressure gets to high but I thought it was around 60 psi when it was activated. Need to look at shop manual to verify.
There could be an actual mechanical problem or charastic or it could be the sending unit. But I would think it would act up all the time.

My 96 started doing this at about 95,000. I replaced the sender and it's been fine since. Cost around twenty bucks at the local parts house.

Thanks everyone, I will pass this along to my friend. Hopefully it will fix it.
