Geno's is selling the lift pump relocation kits. Will the original lift pump continue to be available even after the introduction of the in-tank pump? Also, I gather that there would be no point in buying a relocation kit if a person was going to install a FASS? How often are the brushes failing on the FASS? I am not sure I like that idea of that belt driven setup offered by another company, with regard to vulnerability to damage.

My original oil pressure gauge is acting up, occasionally moving erratically from 3/4 to scale to half scale to near zero and then back up to 3/4 scale, all with a full crankcase at road speed. I am going to replace the sending unit, after having done a lot of searching here.

I was talking to someone at Geno's about gauges and they only offer one oil pressure gauge, and that is with the wide range of other gauges they offer. I gather people are not installing aftermarket oil pressure gauges on these trucks. Why is that, particularly with the foolish, computer controlled oil pressure gauge they come with?

I put an oil pressure gauge in mine. You will find that the OEM op is not too accurate.

Zero OEM oil pressure = immediate shutdown, or bad gauge?

You decide in say 1 or 2 seconds say towing 13k RV in mountains and the next exit is 7 miles away.

Zero oil pressure is one of the only things that requires immediate shutdown.

I understand your point. I have seen it move so fast, over such a range, from high, to low, to high, that it is apparent that it is electrical. Mostly it moves rapidly, now and then, from 3/4 scale to half, and then back up. With the key on but engine off, it reads 3/4 scale. On rare occasions, it will read zero with key on but engine off, then jump upon starting.

If I thought it could have actually been low, I would have stopped. I did, in fact, once, just to verify that I was full of oil.

Did you install a mechanical gauge or an electrical one?
