Keep Proram In Your Thoughts........

I put a mechanical oil pressure guage on my plow truck today (Toyota) and I'm worried how tight the compression fitting should be on the nylon line. Will over tightening damage the line? Will under tightening allow it to work loose?

Suggestions?

Thanks,

-john

John, I really got chastised when I posted that I use copper tubing, but that my story and I'm sticking to it!!! I had a nylon fitting let loose in the cab and made a mess. No more plastic and oil. I use a grease hose from engine to firewall and then copper tube to the guage. The hose is 1\8" pipe thread on the ends. No more worries. Ok fellas, I'm old school !! Tim

I had a nylon hose break at the fitting on a Chevy 6. . on the engine side.

Couldn't take the vibration.

No more nylon for me for oil gages.

Tim1, I've got 6' of 1/8" copper tubing I was considering running all the way from the guage to the enging block. Is the grease hose something I'd find at an auto parts store?

Yes John, you can find it at any parts store. It is just a piece of grease hose, different length, with 1/8" NPT threads on both ends, male ends. Just use a brass coupler and good to go. Tim
