Driving to work the other morning as is the drill for the past 3 years a ding not from the radio echoed through the cab. Not the radio as I suspected and again a ding accompanied by a red check engine light . Just got fuel and 180 on the water guage left only one bad diagnosis. OIL GUAGE reading "0". What the HE!!. Right next to a cemetary no less. Probably should've jumped in. Shut it off and looked under over and through, no oil leaking. Filter tight and could hear the oil draining down in the block. Well I fired her back up and drove to work. No Problems. Took the sending unit off and taped an oil guage to the hood and all kinds of pressure. Bad unit and it costs 180 bucks. Anybody know where to get one cheaper? At least the monsters ok. Thanks, Mike. :{

Thanks and good news! The guy down the road took my engine no's and called them into a cummins parts supplier and its on the way now. I'm getting fond of the Auto-Meter race guage taped onto the hood. Reminds me of the fuel pressure guage I had taped on the hood in the spring till the dealer accepted the fact that the damn thing(pusher pump) was bad. Come to think of it, I may put the fuel pressure guage back on so the oil guage has company. You can't imagine the looks you get from people looking at them trying to figure out what they're for!:confused:

Ya

Mine went bad too. I used to get three oil pressures 0/40/80. Finally my computer started setting codes so off to DC to have it replaced. Since then I get every number from 0 to 70 psi. I did not know they cost 180. Glad DC had to foot the bill.

I have the new one!

I got the new one today and when it stops raining I'll put it in. I just hope it doesn't give me a heart attack like the first one. Good news is that it cost me 76. 00 and tax. It would have killed me to pay the dealer 180. 00 for one of these. I may pipe in a "T" in the galley and put both guages on. From the looks I'm gettin' from the chicks they really dig the guage on the hood. And I'm still thinkin' about puttin' the fuel guage back on the windshield. :eek:Just for info I bought a set of impacts at a Cummins tool sale in metric and between the truck, tractor and Jetta TDI I've gotten my 30 or 40 bucks out of them so far. :D
