April marked the third anniversary since taking delivery of my truck. Currently I have 186 idle hours, 1882 driving hours and 98365 miles without any issues so far. Oil and filter changed every 8600 miles( 15% life ), fuel filter every other oil change and air cleaner every third change. The diffs and T case every 60k miles.

This engine just keeps getting better and better! You've run a consistent interval now three times
in a row, and we've seen steady drops in wear metals - and they were pretty darn good to begin with! In
short, this engine appears to be in great shape, and we see no internal concerns with oil-sharing parts. The
oil's physical condition was top-notch, as well, with no apparent contamination, good viscosity, and a strong
TBN. Low insolubles means oil filtration was fine, and low silicon says the same for air filtration. Perfect
report!

I guess I should have noted that the engine ran the Ultra Euro for the first 16k miles from there until 60k miles it ran on Kendall. From 60k miles I have been using T6.

From the looks of the oil sample results, IMO, I like the fact that phosphorus and zinc are almost double ! This is great and necessary , IMO, .
Does anyone know if this engine has roller or flat tappets in the valve train?? You need the added phos and zinc especially if the engine has flat tappets and this has been proven in the past for years and Feds and EPA is forcing the oil manufacturers to reduce Phos and Zinc. Read the debacal that is going on with Ford on their new diesels and they are now recommending or mandateing (for warrantee) that customers driving the new diesels use only their oil that has more Phos and Zinc!

The Tappets are flat on the 5.9,hydraulic lifters on the ed

That is what I thought! Lycoming was having a problem back in the 80s with cam wear in their aircraft engines and mandated that they used an additave (I think it is still used with any aircraft oil at oil change called "Cam Guard". I think any engine that has flat tappets has this shear problem and users should be made aware. I also think that Shell Rotella T-6 has changed its formulation recently but I have not been able to find out if they changed the amounts of Phos and Zinc.??? I still use T-6 in my truck so I need to find out the answer.

TC thanks for the Blackstone Report, when did you put T6 5-40 into ED. I notice there was an increase of Zn and Phos two changes ago (which is good)!

10 of 1000s know who I am....If fact If you do a search 1000s refer to Me as Todd. Call Todd and generally the member will add Todd at TC Diesel.

You are right if you don't have business associated with your name no need to share it. killer 223 IF you share your personal info with that ID, No one would contact You Heeheee

Coming up on 105k miles with no issues or CEL's

Shobbs, Any OAs? ,if Not I would start... I don't want to promote fear. I hear of High mileage engines puking also. its just not worth the risk..If you travel long distances to be stranded.

I do a OA at least once a year, so far everything is good. No fuel in oil, wear metals are dropping and no other contaminates. I don't baby this truck either I have hit 3500 r.p.m's a few times. I just drive the snot out of it and go where I want without any worries. I can say this engine loves heat, climbing La Veta Pass CO in June this year I saw 1500 turbo inlet temp, coolant hit 246 and oil hit 267 before reaching the summit. I was towing about 2500 pounds and about 400 pounds of cargo in the truck at the time. DEF usage I have not tracked, when I hit the last white mark I add four gallons and go with it, right now fuel mileage is between 25-27 m.p.g.

I wouldn't support loves excessive heat , it can tolerate those temps occasionally, but habitual 1500+ will prematurely cause the turbo and valves to fail. the oil temp Sensor is close proximity to the Oil exchanger and reads higher than actual, I moved my oil temp sensor and added live oil PSI gauge it always reads 20-30* lower than EVIC . It would seem you have properly assemble rotating mass with that mileage and OAs, Carry on.
