The bean counters probably had something to do with it. But if we had real gauges most uninformed owners would be called the dealer or FCA costumer service all the time about readings they didn't expect or understand.

Unfortunately this is why we lost oil pressure in the first place. Chrysler got tired of the warranty questions about oil pressure back around 00-02 timeframe and even the 2nd gens were given a flash to make the real pressure gauge an idiot gauge.

I can only recall one engine that was damaged from an oil pressure problem in the last 10 or so years, and it was from an oil filter that failed or was left loose. It belonged to a member here and I asked the corporation to handle it anyway which they did as good will. So I would not be concerned in the least that the oil pressure gauge that 99% of the drivers don't look at anyway is a virtual gauge. The truck will still warn you when something bad happens, which it won't based on my experience.
The same holds true for the transmission, the truck will do everything it can to protect your transmission from failing due to heat.

Maybe my trucks not:--) really running hot after all...Maybe my other 2013 RAM was just a cold blooded truck....:-laf
