Looks like I'm out numbered. I guess it's just my area, weird. We are on the road a lot, I put on 40,000 miles a year on my truck and I'm a small farmer, 960 acres. We trade trucks a lot out here too. If you think resale and tax deduction it makes some sense to trade a lot.



I guess it all comes down to taste. I really like short bed trucks, and maybe I just don't notice the long bed trucks.

Times do change but as I stated the BIG three surveys showed 10 years ago only FIRST time truck buyers bought s/b and after that never again. I'm curious to what the surveys on that issue are now. I do own a s/b also. Its the wifes,1500 slt with a bed cover and chrome wheels etc. It hauls dog food and grocery's once in a while.

Ill be ordering a reg cab long bed with the 6spd... I guess Ill get the best of all worlds hehe. I never need to carry more than 1 or 2 other people so QC is unneccessary.

If you ever want a big tool box or fuel tank a short bed will limit the choices big time. Been there, done that. We bought this Cummins for towing and hauling with every thing else secondary. If I drove it like a car or daily driver, the SB SRW would be the way to go. But I have three trucks, so the big black beauty is mostly for hauling and towing. After driving the Ford Crew Cabs the Dodge QC LB DRW is a sports car! Much easier to park. The most popular farm truck around here is the Ford F-350 Crew Cab 4x4 Diesel long bed SRW. Number two would be the Dodge cummins with the western flat beds. For some reason the flat beds are very popular on the Dodges. I checked the parking lot at the country restaurant, almost all SRW Fords and a few 3500 Dodges, no Chevys though. Only saw one SB Ford, non-work truck. I worked out of a SB once, a real pain for me. Always needed a trailer when hauling wood. Funny thing is, still need a trailer with our 3500, can't haul much with half the bed taken up by fuel tank and tool box. The extra range is nice though.



The 48RE is doing well, no big complaints. But, it will take me a while to rack up some miles, I only do about 12K per year. I have a little under 5K now. With a company truck, the 03 Dodge only gets to go out a couple times a week.
