So I have my eye on this silver dually club cab 4X4. It is at a used lot. I continue to pass it by, saying to myself, "its too much money, you don't need that much truck. I finally decide to slow down and look for the "12 valve" sticker on the fender, sure enough it is a 24 valve and I AM OUT. BUT, I did slow down enough to barely catch a silver 2500 in the back of the lot, looked like it had just been traded in. So I pull in and get a salesman. He tells me that the truck has a broken oil pump and he doesn't have the keys yet. I am thinking, damn... . that is a nice truck, too bad it is hurt. I come back the next day after the salesman calls and says he has the keys. I start the truck and notice the oil gauge moving... . I immediatly turn the truck off. -----I am consulting with Jim Fulmer on the cell phone this whole time. I did notice that the truck was very hard to start and once started, idled very low. This is a fuel problem right? I call Jim again and the sales manager is saying that the "pump" is bad. So i am thinking that either the lot is hiding something or they don't quite know whats wrong. I arrange a decent price of 10K for this 100K mile truck and ask if I can trailer it to my mechanic "JIM" to check it out before I sign on the dotted line. They reply with a YES. Getting the truck on the trailer was tough, the truck kept stalling and just not running right, it barely made it on the trailer. Once to Jim's house, the truck just started right up. A little slow to bust off, but ran fine on the trailer. Jim tested the fuel pressure and all the other stuff. This is when we dedided to just go get a full tank of fresh fuel and run the crap out of it. Long story short, the truck is running like brand new with 400 miles on it since off the trailer and I just signed on the dotted line for a price of 8700 dollars. Hey, the car lots mechanic told them it needed an injection pump, am I a bad guy for saying... "OK ill take it", or should I take it back and tell them nothing is wrong with it and to please charge me 4000 more dollars. ???? Anyways, I introduce you all to lilthumper2, your newest member of the 2nd gen club.

Take it back? You can bet they made plenty of money off it. Pity the poor guy who traded it in, not only did he probably get screwed I'll bet they also charged him to find the "bad pump".

I am not sure how much money they made. My salesman said that he was the one driving it when it "went out". They said it was running just fine for about 2 weeks and then just quit. The sales manager "told" me that they took it in on trade at the new Dodge lot and it was running fine and they had $11,200 in it. I am sure they are full of it because black book wholesale on the truck is $9100 according to a sales manager friend of mine at the chevy store. I was just happy when I found out that I got the truck cheaper than a lot could buy it for. Who knows, the crank may fall out of it tomorrow, but it did get 19. 6 mpg with a split of city and highway on the first tank. You would think the thing is healthy if it gets over 18.

Yea I guess I knew what was going to happen when I came home and both trucks and the trailer were gone. Give me a shout if you have any questions on the truck or want to turn it up;) Smoking deal, wish I had another CTD then I could ditch the Sonoma.

Jim
