I have a 2002 White 2nd gen.
Call me crazy but I love the looks of the older second gen tailgates. I like that "plastic" stuff on the lower part of the tailgate. Practically speaking it also looks a little better as I have dented my tailgate now twice lowering it when there were rocks on the bumper from a load of topsoil.
I REALLY like the ones off of the 3500's with the three little tail lights in the center. So, some questions:
1. Is that plastic just covering the tailgate sheetmetal or is that a completly different type of tailgate?
2. What are the drawbacks of this type of tailgate? Why did Dodge stop making them? Any Issues?
3. Could I get one of those older tailgates for my truck and attach it or is it mounted differently?
4. Finally, anyone with a white older style tailgate with the three lights and that plastic stuff who would be willing to trade?
Thanks
Phil
