What ratio does the ZF have for OD? The 3.73's are a good all around choice but a little tall with tall tires and a heavy rig with a decent OD ratio. The 4.10's are a much better fit with a 34-35" tire but are a little short when running empty for economy.

The BW 62\65\12 looks like a good combo. You might even cheat a bit on the turbine side to a 68 or extended tip 71 and be good with a manual trans. Addition of a turbo boot and manifold blanket will help some but my feeling is you will need some larger nozzles to spool it well. The timing gets to be a funny thing as you cannot advance it too much if you want spool on a bigger charger. There will be osme tunign to do to minimize smoke and maximize spool whne you start matching compopnents.

The ZF is not bad but it is way under sized for a 300-350 HP 6BT. You have to drive it like an NV4500 and be careful with the TQ rise and throttle application.

The ZF has a 0.76 OD. The tires are closer to the 31.5-32.5" diameter range.

I'll start reading about a good nozzle match for the 62/65/12.

I'll be scouting for a G56/NV6500 as time goes by. I think a transmission will be easier to replace than a turbo once this is assembled. The ZF is fresh, have the adapter, has the driveline brake (this D80 is out of an ambulance, has no park brake) going to run it till it pops. I'll be easy on it.

Thank you again.

You could stand some more tire and not hurt yourself too bad towing. A 33-34" tire would be a goo dtrade off for power\mileage. That combo should be good for towing and good at 70 mph and under, decent over that.

Limited by wheels which are 6" wide. I would like to go to a 245mm tire, but I think there would be issues with tires rubbing between the duals. The 225's will be a good starting point. Got the wheels off of a early 90's General Motors P-30 bread truck, had them machined for the Ford hub bore. They were originally fitted with 8R's. Not many choices in rubber in the 8R size.

Is it logical to assume the VE would benefit from injectors with more than 4 holes? Better low rpm swirl?

With duals and 19.5's you are limited but it is not a bad combo. A browny box would be a good addition if you can make it work seamlessly.

More fuel and a better pattern\atomization always helps.
