Needing a new alternator

This is my first post in a long long time....

I have searched the forums and archives and found bits and pieces of what I'm looking for.

I've gotten 147,XXX miles worth of driving from my U-Joints and Carrier Bearing, but now I've got squeaks and vibrations, it's time to do something.

Does anyone have the part number for the Mopar Direct Replacement one piece rear shaft for my application?

Is the Mopar a 5"?

I've seen that I lot of folks have used driveshaft specialist out of Texas with good results, is this still the case and is it that much better than the Mopar Option?

If there anyone that has made the switch to the One Piece and regretted it?

As Always, thanks in advance for the help.

As an option you might inquire of your local driveline shop to see if they can build you one. That's what I did. 5" aluminum with Spicer 1480 U-Joints as I recall. I believe you can get even larger U-Joints but at the time they were not available. Absolutely no regrets.

I have a 48RE and went to the Mopar 1 pc when my 2pc needed to be rebuilt, was really surprised how much smoother acceleration was with the 1pc, no regrets at all!

52123162AA is the correct one for your truck. The Mopar shaft is only 4-4.5 inch in the bigger part, necked down to 3" at each end.

The Driveline services DS is a 5" full length and filled with foam to kill vibes. You can get it with the standard flange drive or have them just make an open yoke end and switch to the GM style u-bolt design. The flange drive has its issues.

Thanks for the Part Number. I think that's the route for me to go. I don't have a crazy lift (leveled on 35's) and don't run crazy power anymore.

Is there an OEM Aluminum shaft for my truck to? 04.5 Quad cab short wheel base?
And has it also the bigger U-Joints?

Nope, only one Mopar built the 1 piece shaft for was the G-56 because that was all that was in production when they offered them. A driveline shop that build aluminum shafts should be able to do it as long as the length does not exceed 85-86", there is limit that they will build one because the shafts will start to ripple under stress at some point.

I had a custom 1 piece aluminum driveshaft built for my old 2003 3500 CTD. It came apart when I was backing up my truck with the camper on it. Weld broke. This guy had built hundreds of driveshafts, plenty of gray hair. "Welding aluminum is tricky". Well s---, thats why I brought it to you. Just give back the old one with new carrier bearing.
Yeah, be careful where you get it done and ask a lot of questions!

Ordered 52123162AC today. I think he quoted me $650, may have been $670 but it was within $5 dollars of any of the internet prices and I drive past the store twice a day. It's coming from the Milwaukee PDC so I probably won't see until the middle of next week. Truck has just about gotten to the point that I don't want to drive the 10 mile round trip back and forth to work. Hopefully by this time next week I'll have the driveshaft installed as well as the noisy vacuum pump replaced and be good as new.

The shaft I put in my 05 had a mopar sticker on it but I got it from a local driveline shop. I don’t have any pics of the part number thou. 05 NV5600 QCLB. It was a big shaft and had 1550 (maybe 1555) u-joints.

AH64ID, Did you feel like it was an improvement and an Upgrade?

It took a while, as it vibrated pretty bad for the first 1500 miles in most gears below ~2000 rpms with any decent power applied. Once I got some towing miles on it those huge u-joints broke in and I really liked it. It had a much more solid feel under acceleration than the OEM shaft w/ a carrier bearing.

When I replaced the one in my 04 48re, it was from an 08 mega cab. Direct bolt in removing the carrier bearing hanger. One of the best updates to date. I can likely find d the part number somewhere if needed.

Vacuum pump for the EB?

The docs I have do not list for an NV5600 only the G-56. I wonder how much actual difference there is between the 2, if any. Since the 4x4 all go to the t-case there is no difference on the slip yoke and maybe an 1" difference in length is not enough to make a difference.

Downside to the 1 piece is they can be bent if you go over obstructions high enough, rocks, cement barriers, etc.

Yes, the Pump for the Jacob's. Fortunately, in Alabama standard shipping with Geno's is overnight so the Pump, Belt and Service will be tomorrow's project and do the driveshaft later in the week.

Morning all. I am on the hunt for a single piece DS.

I have a 03 Crew long box dually. I keep going through carriers. At least 1 a year. two this year!

Am I too long for a single piece? If not can I go the mopar direct drop in route? Part number please?
