Hey TDR Brothers!
I don't know if anyone has ever attemped installing aftermarket Air Conditioning on a First Generation D/C but we've just completed such a conversion with good results.
This particular truck was formerly known as "Old School's Immaculate 1992 Powerhouse" had lived it's entire life in the relatively cool enviroment of Connecticut (near the ocean) but now resides in Tennessee where the humidity is a killer. Air Conditioning was a must, if not for the new owner but for her beloved Cocker Spaniel, Brandi!
Well 3 days and $1351. 00 later this truck is putting out some cool, humidity reduced, climate controlled air conditioning. The unit went in well but uses up more of the passenger floorboard foot space than factory air. Other than that it looks OEM if you didn't have the two units side by side for comparision. It seems to put out enough cold air for a standard cab but by no means can turn the cab into a meat locker like the old R-12 freon OEM air can. It also tends to make a bit more noise doing so!
Be thankful if you have the factory air! Has anyone done the conversion to the new freon in our trucks?

Ps: Both trucks are off the the Outer Banks of N. C. over the fourth for A/C testing and sea kayaking!
