Yep, it's confirmed.

I've been looking at my truck for months now thinking the driver's side is on the low side. Last night, Toolman noticed it without my asking. "Hey Matt, You're hanging low on one side!"

Normally, this would be a little too personal for my comfort level, but he's a buddy of mine, and we get away with statements like this between us. I mean, he's making a critical comment about my TRUCK!

What is causing this? We measured from axle to fender well, and there's a good 3/4" difference, lower on the driver's side. I have a snow plow package with 047 and 046 springs, driver & passenger sides respectively. Anyone have any helpful advice? I made an appointment with the dealer to have my wallet lightened by $40 to have them look at it. I'll be putting in new shocks so now is the time to fix this.

Matt (MTE)

Yeparoo Looked at her last night and it is dipping on the Drivers side front. Wheaties never even brought it up and I had said something about it dipping so thats when we broke out the tape measure. Allmost has the same effect like two miss adjusted tire pressures however they are fine. You can SEE the difference in fender clearence just standing there. EVEN after we re parked the truck in a totaly different spot.

Matt, I gotta tell you.

ALOT of owners of 2001 trucks (INCLUDING ME) have the same exact problem. I've had it since day ONE.

Dodge says it's normal unless it's over an inch? (I think)

Do a search and you will find a few owners complaining of the same thing. Alot of people talked about how they think it's the springs until one person switched their springs and they still had the problem.

IMHO _ I think the spring hanger on the frame was welded about a 1/4 of an inch off or something. That way it sits a little lower.

If I order new rear springs (It's in the plan ;) ) I'm going to ask National Spring to make one spring a little higher than the other.

I think thats going to be your only fix. :(

Mactruck,

You bring up an interesting point. We assumed that it was the front springs and measured the front. It could also be in the back.

Matt

I was wanting to raise the front of my truck up one inch instead of two and someone on TDR told me about Superlift part #4520 its degined to lift the front end 3/4 of an inch thay are made to correct the proublem you are having . I used one on each side thay weld in on the bottom spring mount. FYI also have the drivers side lean only 1/2 in.

Thanks Mark,

I took a look at Superlift and I think you mean part number 4250?

That might be just what I'm looking for!

Matt

Do a search on this. I have a '99 and noticed this also. It is 3/4" lower on the driver's side front and back. The general conclusion was the weight of the fuel. There was no improvement with new shocks, D25 coils, and add-a-leafs.

I use to have a 97 2500 gas, and I noticed that it sat low on the drives side, but everytime I noticed it was after filling the tank. So I ran the tank real low and then took a tape mesure to check the difference from left to right, it sat higher on the drivers side with an empty tank, I then filled it up and checked it again. It then sat lower on the drivers side.

I haven't really checked it on my 99 diesel, maybe I will do that the next time I fill up.

Just thought I would put my 1. 5¢ in

I was surfing the web a couple weeks ago and saw a leveling kit somewhere that came with different size shims to fix a leaning problem. I can't remember where I saw it.

Eat less!

Come On Buddy! You know what the real problem is! You just need to eat less and as soon as you dump 20#s. That truck will sit just right. :D  :p If you will come to Phoenix you can sweat 20#s off in a day!

:--)
