I own a 92' 250 power ram and people have complimented me on having a cool truck but ive also meet people that totally down grade the first generation dodges. I just was curious what people thought.

Rate the generations. 1=best2=good3=ok ... im not trying to down grade any of the generations just was wondering what the tdr members thought. Hope you enjoy survey. :)

My thoughts...

1st. generation=1

2nd generation=3

3rd generation=2

Generations ?

Evertime I get to thinking I might want a newer truck I read another post and it scares me back to good sense. 1st gen stronger frame, better miliage,

add a second gen pump and look out. R C ;)

1st gen = 1 2nd gen = 2 3rd gen = 3

just look into the engine compartment and you'll say "oh yeah 1st gen, what was I thinking" throw in a p-pump in. Cheapie insurance in the pre-94

by the end of the week there will be one of each sitting in the driveway... . once i get the first gen running great it will be 1st-1 2nd-2 3rd-3 ... . but till then i like my 02 ... . she moves well for what she is. ... ... ... i hate driving my dads 3rd gen

You guys are tough on the 3rds. I love my 89, Its a tough truck and it will never leave my possesion. However you have to appreciate the technology that has gone into the 3rd gens. I love them both and they serve their purposes well. I have a 2nd gen, but its a 1/2 ton with a supercharged 408. Its fast but not very reliable.

Based on fun factor 1st Gen= #1

Based on comfort and drivability 2nd Gen 24= #1

3rd Gen? I'll probably never know.

This was "Opinion" Right?

i've put 275k on my first gen ...

126k on my second gen ...

and 55k on the wifes third gen ...

each new generation is an improvement on the last

1st gen

getrags and 727s and 160 hp and ruff assed leaf springs ... and tiny cabs ... and cheapo plastic interiors ... gutless, poorhandling and fugly... no way i'd go back

2nd gen

lift pumps and 5th gear nuts and vp's and hard to get into the rear seats on pre-98, yeah i know there is always the legandary P7100 but those trucks need catalytic convertors to be legal ... did i mention 53 blocks? ... trackbars

3rd gen

more room ... best ride and handling and hauling capability ... improvements to block and 48RE and NV5600 ... no cats on '03 thru '04. 5 ... strongest frames ... best brakes

I love my 2004, but. . if there were 2 things I could wish for and change, it would be to but in a manual transmission and a first gen 12 V motor. All mechanical baby! None of this electrical stuff to go goofy. High % of WMO- no problem! WVO- no problem! tolerances, what tolerances?!?! Remember the days when 160 HP and 420 TQ seemed like overkill? And the clatter, my god the noise! :-laf

1st Gen = 1

2nd Gen = 1

3rd Gen = 2

All others ?? is there any others

The only reason I gave the 3rd Gen a 2 is because it is more complex and harder for me to repair.

At the risk of getting tossed out of here, I like the 2nd gen's looks the best, especially the 95 to 98. 5 non-quad cabs.

The 3rd gen and 24 valve 2nd gens are way too expensive to repair. I had a 3rd gen and it was nice, big brakes, loads of power, quick and always seemed to have something going wrong.

The first gens are nice, economical, have that brute look about them and I like being able to dive in and fix about anything that goes wrong.

I like the sound of the early 24 valve engines, then the 12 valves, and can you tell a 3rd gen is running without revving it up or looking at the tach? :-laf

I think my 1991 W350 rides better than my 2003 2500 4x4 did.

I guess when I weigh everything, I prefer them in the order they came out, 1st generation preferred to live with all around.

I love the way just a bump of the starter brings the early trucks to life. The 3rd gen truck had to be cranked until the crank sensor picked up the signal.

My 3rd gen had a lot of wind noise when there was a cross wind. I found that kind of disappointing. I also had a series of vibration issues in the front end, which they did finally get right. I had an Edge EZ on it and it actually would do as good or better on fuel than the 1st gens do. You really paid a penalty for anything over 65 though. It used a lot more fuel at 75 than either one of my first gens do.

I do miss the remote entry and a few of the other options, I will not miss them though when they quit and I have to either fix or pay to get them fixed.

As far as the plastic interiors, all three have loads of that!

I think as a group, they are the best looking trucks on the road. The only body style I really like better is the 67 to 72 GM pickups.

I am not sure the 3rd gen body is as good as the earlier two generations were. They definitely designed the third gens with a lot less fitting of body parts to be required. Time will tell. Glen

I like the ride of the 3rd gens, but miss the big brute feeling of my 90 w 250, it just felt like a tougher truck, but rode like an old buckboard wagon. Loved the sound of that truck ,would have been fantastic with the 6 speed I have in my 05, the 2nd gens were probably all around the best running and most upgrade friendly, all in all , guess the new ones have the most improvements and are in general the best trucks, best brakes ,best ride , most power ( at least stock)
