Changes in the Need For a Passport

trailer tires

I think I'm getting a real good deal on a 2 yr old Open Road 5er. Any opinions on the brand? The previous owners customized the interior by removing almost all the furniture that wasn't nailed down and the dealer is anxious to move it.

also, what has been the experience of getting the smoking smell out of a rig? Mr. Dealer says "no sweat" but I'm a little sensitive after quiting 22 years ago.

also, I see that Kelly Blue Book doesn't do RV's. What do you use for valuation purposes?

Getting the smoking smell out will be almost impossible IMO, but if you can stand it, make sure you figure that into the price.....

I have had some success with febreeze as far as ciggy smoke. My mother smokes and when her and dad pop by the 5er smells after she leaves. Also after spraying the febreeze I burn a couple of candles (pick yer scent) to mask it, lol. It helps but there are times I get hint of a ciggy every now and then.

The only way to completely get rid of the smoke smell from the interior is to burn the trailer to the ground. It will never come completely out. You can mask it with candles, tons of air freshener and febreeze, but that's like putting a bandaid on a broken arm.

The ozone gen can be a good idea. However be carfull about the size of the gen you put in a small room . I used to own a carpet cleaning franchise and we would occasionaly do fire odor work . The home office had a pic of a bathroom that had an ozone generator placed in it and it decentagrated the plastic shower curtian. They also had a pick of the inside of a refridgerator that went without power and an attempt was made to rid it of odor with a gen, placed inside. The inside plastic shell of the fridge shrank ... a lot. We had the best luck of getting rid of smoke based odors buy burning a group a chemicals that were called parring agents. We would fill up an insect foger(the type that shoot liquid through a hot tube)and as these chemicals burned the smoke they put off would in therory go to any smoke residue the room may contian. We would leave it overnight and ventalate the room the next day,The process seemed to work well but I suspect the chemicals are banned today . good luck
