Want to know from those who have comp boxes and stage 2 or 3 upgrades only, what to expect for power gain.

I normally drive on 3/3 setting of the Comp and crank it to 4 or 5 when I want to have fun. If I add injectors (2 or 3's) will there be a major power increase?

I am also afraid to wire the waste gate closed again for fear of overspooling and melting the stock turbo. (I only have a 30lb guage). Any opinions on this?

Yes there will be a major power increase. If you went with 2 or3's you would probably need to upgrade your turbo due to the exhaust temps being out of control on level 5. You probably could get away with your turbo for a little while but you temps would peg your pyro. Happy Bombing:D

Ditto on too darn hot on 5x5 w/out turbo upgrade. But the comp and the 2's run on 3x5 like the comp runs on 5x5 alone. I grossed 17100 and I never topped 1150 towing w/ box on 1x3. That is with hx-35 (stock) turbo.

I disabled my WG and I see 35lbs regularly on lvl1 and it ranges to 47lbs peak leveling to 42-43 on lvl5. I would leave the WG hooked up but the fuel that you have will still boost to about 40 (even past the WG) and level off at 35-37 WOT on 5x5. Not too hard on the hx35 IMHO. My turbo has seen this type of abuse since 12K. I am now at 37K and I am getting a little seepage past the seals in the turbo. I am going to have to upgrade to a 40 this spring.

Remember you will be WAY HOT with that box turned up and stage 2's. You wont have a problem pegging the pyro in about 7-10 seconds WOT.

Hope this helps. Any more questions just holler.

I am not sure the difference in air between the hx35 and the hy35. I personally would feel comfortable towing with 3's. If I turn my box up to 2x3 when I am loaded (15-19K gross) I get temps climbing over 1300 up slight grades if I keep an eye on it I can keep it about 1200@60mph up decent grades. I am not sure if the difference in air in/out will put you in a position to be too hot with 3s. IMHO I think 2's you wouldn't have any problems with (as long as you stayed on lvl1 or box off towing) Maybe someone here will pipe up that has run your combo.

Hope this was of some help

Been living for over a year on III's & a comp on stock turbo. Now I have a 4" exhaust & afe filter. I only tow with the box on 1x1 & its just fine egt wise. The only think I noticed is I lost about 50 miles to a tank towing with the III's.

I run around town on 3x1 & never have an issue with egts. When I wanna smack it around a bit on 5x5 I just back out of it at 1300. kind of sucks when ur racin someone, but it really isnt that bad. I wouldnt run that setup unless u run a 4" exhaust though, or it would be an issue when towing or racin at 5x5, probally add 200 degrees.

Lift while racing--NEVER!

Your pistons don't magically disintegrate at 1300+. I'll bury my 1500 pyro for short bursts---as do most drag racers and sled pullers.

I have DDUFM (DD version of PE Comp) with DD3's on the stock HX35 turbo. I don't tow heavy so heat isn't an issue. BUT burning the fuel is. I'm pushing a rich mixture. Black smoke at full 34-5 psi boost.

More boost from a 35 is not beneficial.

The DDUFM sub-levels 1 and 2 defuel more than stock, allowing you to tailor your EGT's to your needs no matter what the turbo/load. Level 1/1 should be COOLER than injectors alone.

I run the box off until the thermostat opens, then I'll run 3x3 until I see a ford or a ricer or something else that needs blowing away or smoking. Sometimes I leave it on 3x3 for the race just to be sporting about it.

I'm overfueled in levels 4 and 5. I still use them as they spool up quicker, but there is no power difference in 5x3 and 5x5 as things are now.

I posted my whole heap of dyno numbers a while back. Off the top of my head, I gained 133HP with the DDUFM and 80 with the DD3's, +205HP with them together. Mustang 1750.

I'll have a bigger turbo on soon. That should bring on at LEAST 50 more HP. I'm also running a 5" exhaust, Max Flow kit, and will have a Scotty 2 on soon. Full details at profile.

So, yep the HX-35 will hang in there--better if you don't overspool it. Mine would go to 43 before I adjusted the wastgate and drilled the elbow. Some folks get away with that daily, some folks put holes in stuff at that pressure.

Get the injectors, heck it's Xmas!

[edit DISREGARD THIS STATEMENT]If you have the HY--I'd get a 14cm WG housing for it.

Wade,

they make another housing for th HY? I thought it is what it is. Am I wrong in that assumption?

I also plan on DD2's with my EZ post trans upgrade. Looking at the issue of air NOW.
