Tailpipe fell off. So its time to get a new exhaust . What's a good exhaust system these days? It should ;

fit well( same routing as stock)

last

sound good

not be too expensive

I'd be happy with some extra power:rolleyes:

Silverline stainless 4" systems are very nice, I've put them on both my 3rd gens. Sounds good, No drone, Lasts forever, Fits as if it's a factory product (unless you want dual tips). No matter what you do or choose I'd recommend you use band clamps instead of the crush type clamps Dodge uses..... If you ever need to take the exhaust system apart or put your cat back in :) it makes the job sooooooo much easier. Well worth the $14 each a clamp.

I like Cumminzn, is using the 5" MBRP exhaust system on my 6. 7L, 2008 Mega Cab. My son is using the same exhaust system on his 2006 LB Extend cab 5. 9L engine. These are will made exhaust systems and will in stall using the existing mounting points on the trucks. There are different price point system that MBRP offer and you can choose how much you want to spend. They include all the required claps, hangers and the muffler. You must reuse the rubber isolators from the original muffler system from your truck.

The only modification that I did to the muffler system was shorten the tail pipe so I could install a 6" tip.

Silverline Stainless system would be an excellent choice. . FWIW. . When I had a phone conversation with the Silverline Rep,, He ststed that the only manufacturer that build a muffler with the quality level equal to theirs was MBRP!!!!. . He also stated that the aluminumized version of Silverline (and MBRP for that matter) did NOT use the same muffler as the stainless systems... Always made me wonder if somewhere up the food chain that Silverline and MBRP were one and the same????... . Maybe designed as a group effort, then two different individuals packaged them under different names.

Note that about the same time Genos phased out Silverline, the smoothly slid MBRP right in there... . hhhhhmmmmm... .

Anyway... Either of them are great systems, spring for the 409 stainless as a minimum... I actually got the 304 polished system for the 409 price...

Call Bryan at Diesel Power Products, He has several different brands, may even just sell you a muffler delete and a tailpipe.

anybody have a stock exhaust to get rid of?

I was thinking I could get a muffler delete pipe and a tailpipe and go on the cheap:rolleyes:

still looking around for a tail pipe/muf/muf delete system , maybe a take off around the East Iowa , Midwest area. :eek:

JPM, I just put a 4" MBRP exhaust on my '04. I did a full turbo back system, eliminating my catalyst. It does have a small free flow muffler. It fits right in place of the stock system using the same hangers. Sounds good too! Mine is the T409 stainless, I paid around $400 for it plus installation. Well worth the price.

jmp i've got a stock exhaust laying around here that came off my truck, it does have the cat and muffler gutted tho. just fyi, even with the cat and muffler completely hollow, the truck didn't sound any different than before. the shape of the cat and muffler causes the exhaust to kill its own sound.
