closer to 8 weeks

Yep, that sounds about right. I ordered mine Saturday, August 7th and they're estimating a ship date of September 30 which would put it at the dealer sometime around the 2nd week of October.

Edit: Well, this is interesting. The dealer just corrected his e-mail and said that the truck will be shipped August 31st and arrive the 2nd week of September. That's more like 5 or 6 weeks from the date the order was placed, and the truck was on restriction when we ordered it - they were building other models, so it came off restriction sometime this week.

Don't think I'd like seeing my "old truck" driving around town. #@$%!

Let alone seeing it all the time with my brother driving it... . :-{}

Your a better man than I am. :D
Its a good thing he is in Salt Lake City and his home is in Boise ID. He was here in So Cal a couple of weeks ago and when I looked outside and saw my truck (his) in my front yard it looked good. "Every good truck will find its way back home"

RustyJC, its good to see your posts again. :)

Thanks, I sorta dropped out because of work (the IT Nazis blocked TDR for awhile) and the fact that I've never had any problems with my 2002 (it has fewer than 47,000 miles, so I guess I shouldn't expect any - it's still on the original lift pump, brake pads, etc. ) It's just gone about its business of towing our RV with no muss or fuss. The only reason I'm moving on to a new truck is that I have nerve and muscle problems in my legs that have cropped up in the last year that require me to move to an automatic transmission.

The downside, of course, is that I haven't paid much attention to the 3G and 4G trucks, so now I'm in for a crash course before my 2011 arrives. :eek: :-laf

Recommend a C&C for you with the non issue DPF's and the better 6spd Auto, but take into consideration the commercial properties of that choice. You might remember the C&C with the B&W bed I bought in 07, well it was hell getting reg. truck insurance for it, due to the VIN.

It takes 2 weeks to ship the truck? Wonder why?... :confused:

IIRC, it took about 10 days to 2 weeks for my 2002 to make it from Mexico to Houston. If it's the same as it was back then, the "ship date" means that's the day it goes out the factory door into the yard. They then stage the departure of the trucks according to the availability and destination of rail cars, and the rail car my truck is assigned to doesn't leave until it's full. Then you are at the mercy of railroad scheduling both in Mexico and the U. S. , the delays in coming across the border, etc.

Frankly, if the truck is completed on August 31st and arrives at the dealer before September 15th, I'll be surprised.
