In March we ordered this car, just as the plant shut down for the virus. It was promptly built when JNAP reopened, then sat for a month before it got on the train, and took almost another month to arrive here. Strange times we are in.

It's a Limited trim level, so sorta mid-pack as Jeep trims go, and it has the Pentastar 3.6 and ZF 8 speed. We had to make a trip to PHX today(something I avoid as much as possible), so I finally got to drive it for long enough to get a feel for it. It rides nice for an SUV, firm enough to handle well without wallowing, but not harsh at all. Quite surprisingly, I think my '19 dually has less road noise. Seats are comfortable. Brakes have a nice high pedal, and much better initial bite than my pickup, which has brakes that feel more "wooden", unless you really stand on them.

The engine is spunky, but you have to put the spurs to it to really get anywhere, and that is to be expected. It's not a Hemi. I have noticed some mild torque converter shudder at low speeds. There is also a bit of surge at low, parking lot speeds. These may subside as we get some miles on it. One thing I do find quite annoying is the cruise control definitely needs some "smoothing" in the algorithm. I can feel it constantly on and off the throttle. VERY annoying. The other oddity with the cruise control is when you use the Set+(Accel), or Set-(Decel), if you click them it gains or loses 1 mph at a time, as expected, but when you hold them, rather than the new set speed being established when you let go, you have to look at the set speed on the dash, as it starts jumping by five or more mph increments, and you can end up way overshooting your desired change. On Edit: I very seldom used the Accel or Decel, except in 1 mph increments, but tried it out anyway.

The A/C seems more effective than my pickup. One thing it doesn't have that I have surprisingly grown to like is the ventilated seats. It has heated seats, which we need here like a hole in the head, but no ventilation.

We are still fiddling with settings. One thing I miss on the EVIC is there is no gauge summary. The other oddity, is there is a setting to display the current gear in the EVIC, and this is something I really wish my pickup had, BUT even though I have it selected, the number is grayed out in the display, and I can't read it with my sunglasses on. If it were white, like the other parameters displayed, it would actually be useful.

Bottom line: The BOSS likes it, so all is well!

Tom,
The speed control when already set, if you touch either accel or decel once, it will add or subtract one mph... if you hold either, they will add or subtract until you let go. I get a little confused between driving my wifes truck and my truck.

My wifes truck is quieter engine and components, but I hear tires on the road more. My truck has additional sound insulation, but I hear the engine more than I do my wifes.

Be interested in hearing what mileage you get... best I get on my Jeep is 17.2, typically 16.5, get about the same as my wifes yruck with the 5.7L.

Congrats on the new ride, cheers, Ron

Thanks, Ron, it took me a minute to figure out its M.O. I normally am just using the 1 mph adjust anyway. If I need to make a larger change I'll ease it on up with the foot-feed, and set the new speed, or hit cancel, and do the same. My wife rarely uses the cruise. I'm a little thick, but I'll figure it out:oops:

Tom

It's ok, imagine little bored sitting in 5500 past hour updating map... I'm not too keen leaving it running unattended, and dont like leaving accy on either.

About 10 15 more minutes and I can go in the house have a beer. Installed about 40ft of leaf guard on the north side of shop today about 20ft to go tomorrow. Pressure wash edit and got a whole load of crap out that had stopped up the downspouts for my rain storage tanks.

Cheers, Ron

Nice to hear you’re enjoying the jeep. If that center cluster is like my ‘14, you can assign readings to the small displays along the top. I have quick economy and DTE. I use the quick economy like we used to use a vacuum gauge to drive by so many years ago.

Yes, I made some changes, then my supervisor took over. LOL

Nice ride, congrats

Over the course of the week, as the brown wagon has dropped stuff off, I have installed the Mopar slush mats and cargo liner, screen protector for the 8.4 UConnect, AVS vent shades, and Mopar splash guards. I had an issue with the vent shades. As usual, they were shrink-wrapped onto a display pack cardboard backer, but the wrap had pulled so hard it actually pulled the red protective film partially off of the double-sided tape on one front and one rear shade. I should have returned them, but I carefully cut them out of the package, and slowly peeled the shrink wrap off. The install went OK, but the driver's shade is not wanting to stay put. Must have lost some "stick". I knew better:rolleyes: I have an email in to AVS, hoping they will make good on it. We shall see.

I also have to say these particular Mopar splash guards are pretty mickey mouse. They require drilling, which I knew going in, but they are mounted with plastic pop rivets. I have a rivet gun for plastic rivets, so that's not the issue, but when you have multiple layers of panels, the guard, the wheel lip moulding, the fender/quarter panel, and the wheel well liner, all or partially overlapping, and each trying to spring in a different direction, the plastic rivets just don't pull hard enough to keep everything aligned no matter how careful you are. Most would not notice it, but I do, and it bugs me. I should have gone with Weather Tech or Husky Liner for these.

We also discovered another oddity in the settings. I had set it for the horn to beep on the second push of the lock button, but it still beeped on the first push. I changed it to no beep, and it responded properly to that setting. I'll wait a while, and try setting it back, just for grins.

Looks like we may end up with my Dads 2019 Grand Cherokee Limited six banger. It's not working for my Mom getting into and out, he did add the AMP steps. They traded a PT in on it last year plus their DRW 12 LongHorn. So dad bought another PT and things are working better for Mom.

He has been trying to sell it on CL with no luck. I think people don't believe there is nothing wrong being one year old and 2,700 miles. So he said if I want it just pay my Sister 1/2 the advertised amount. Kinda hard to turn down!

My Wife loves her 99 Tahoe with 240k that runs great so the reality we don't NEED the Jeep but.....

I don't think that I would pass that one up.

Will the CL carry home as many rocks as the Tahoe. If more, then maybe a third axle under the 5th wheel is in order?

Velvet Red is the wife’s next color in a Grand Cherokee.

That Trackhawk is verrrrrrry nice!
Guess she’s next in the rotation for a new vehicle.....until then, she’ll have to be satisfied with the Billet Silver.

Your going to buy her a red 700HP Trackhawk?? ... NICE!!!!

But better set some $$ aside for the speeding tickets...of course, I guess with a Trackhawk she can probably just out run Johnny !!!
JK/LOL !!

No.....no......no.....no.

I was referring to @dodgesst ’s beautiful Trackhawk in post #11

Love the 3.6L PentaStar V6 and 8 speed automatic combo, but might try another 5.7L HEMI next time. Her previous 2010 Grand Cherokee Limited had the 5.7L.
