Took the driveshaft out and replaced u-joints and carrier bearing. Balanced and replaced. I've replaced the seal 3 times now due to leaking, this is all within about 4000 miles. Talking to my mechanic he thinks it might be a brass bushing inside the tail shaft of the transfer case. It's not leaving a puddle under the truck, but it's sure flinging fluid on the bottom of the truck. It's on the 2011, with about 240k...

I know the old 727 trans had a brass bushing and they made a tool to extract and replace that bushing. If the trans has the same type bushing replacement is very easy with the tool and a new seal. If the bushing is worn it will cause what you are describing or a worn Yoke on the drive shaft can also cause it.

I have a vibration that comes on about 70mph. Changed all of the UJ's new drive shaft (old one had a bow in it). I now see a slight sling of transmission fluid at the rear tailshaft seal, and can shake the yoke a fraction of an inch in all directions. Can that bushing and seal be replaced with the xfer case till in the truck?

I just stopped by the dealer, the Service Advisor and a mechanic sez, the transfer case has to be split to service the bearings and bushings!? I got pretty excited when I saw the $60 price for the once in a lifetime tool!!!!

Update! Took the drive shaft to a different driveline outfit. Cut the ends off, rewelded, balanced and put new Ujoints in, said " those welds were crap"! I also removed the transfer case tailshaft housing and placed it on the slip joint. It had .02-.03" of slop. Ordered a new bushing and seal, $25 for labor, $180 for the DS, and it's "Like Buttah"! Smooth as silk right through 70 mph!
