More on the Emission Puzzle in California...

If you thought the preceding discussion about medium-duty diesel pickup trucks was a “California problem” you are going to be surprised by this next chart. If you total up the “State’s Share of Light Duty Vehicle Sales” the percentage of the 18 states is over 40%. Review the chart, California may be coming to your state.

States that have Adopted California’s Vehicle Standards under Section 177 of the Federal Clean Air Act

The States listed below have adopted California’s Low-Emission Vehicle (LEV) criteria pollutant and greenhouse gas (GHG) emission regulations and Zero-Emission Vehicle (ZEV) regulations. Table current as of May 13, 2022.

Are you inviting us to discuss the politics of this being all "D" states? Arizona is absent on this list after formerly requiring the CA emissions standard on new vehicles: proof that you can fix things that needlessly just cost money. Like it or not vehicles are political with all the government regulations on them. From crash standards, classification as SUV vs. car, CAFE, emissions, taxes, plates, more taxes, fuel taxes, fuel blends contaminated by law with BioDiesel...

I would measure CA's "success" as being the laughing stock of The Entire USA, let alone the world, for their inability to keep the lights on. Basic utilities in such a state of neglect that they were in criminal probation! Let alone the past 2000's era "Spot market blackout fraud"... A looming warning to the rest of The USA that also neglects infrastructure and specifically ignores the need for more power plants. You know Charge The Batteries on mandated, forced, and Government subsidized via 'emission credits' etc. EV market? Meanwhile the power fails in the rest of the USA generally due to weather.

Lee Iacocca: "One of the chief reasons Chrysler paid off its loans early was to get out from under government scrutiny."

2009... Former Chrysler CEO Lee Iacocca has some advice for the people who are running his old company, and those who will lead the new General Motors: Get the government out of your business as soon as possible.

"They're on you day and night. Their oversight is just too extreme. That's why our 10-year loan, we paid it back in three years. We couldn't stand the government. The bureaucracy kills you."

If you want your lights to go out over the winter for two weeks, try Texas. Good times.

A rare 50 year snowstorm, weather, in Texas is just that. Two weeks, 336 Hours, of generator runtime is nothing for a quality set. Some knock-off pacific rim clones need a valve adjustment at 250 hours. Small ~4KW sets could use around 1 gal of gasoline an hour: 336 Gallons of Gasoline that have to be found and transported. Natural Gas sets with the also failed Natural Gas supply would be useless. An old flathead single cylinder engine powering a generator apparently keeps people awake at night over emissions concerns as CA is banning even the modern small OHV engine. Like those used in fuel sipping small generators.

In context the propaganda is about emissions and global warming NOT keeping the power ON or letting YOU keep yours on with a small generator.

"Mother may I?" Emissions for power plants. In context of this topic, even though Texas is somewhat independent, exceeding emissions levels to generate more power from still working power plants requires permission. Fines etc. are expensive. The "Glowing Government Report about emissions reduction." is now going to be an emissions and global warming smear campaign with the emergency as a footnote. Guess how long government paperwork takes even with a predicted rare weather event.

Now the "Where are the hurricanes going to hit this year?" makes the rare Texas 2 week outage merely a SSDD where they hit and knock out the power. In fact some areas hit by a major hurricane and related flooding were not rebuilt: power is still out years later and ain't ever coming back on.

California is SPECIAL where the spot market Enron FRAUD caused rolling blackouts in the early 2000's. The continued neglect of the gas and electric in California blew people up in their homes causing PG&E to be put on Criminal Probation. Due to wildfires caused by neglected "How old are these towers really???" had the Judge order the unsafe lines shut down during high winds. Maybe that reduced emissions from say the yearly high winds blowing down neglected power lines that spark wildfires that we can no longer control no matter how much disaster relief and firefighting money dumped in the fire.

The major alternative aka Zero Emissions Vehicles are electric. This is a strange move given the problems with the electric infrastructure. It's laughing stock that the state with the most power failures is forcing people to depend on electric vehicles. Sadly it's not going to be funny when their failure reaches into your wallet by higher prices, bankruptcy bailouts, or causing higher electric rates to your area because they are outbidding you for your local electric utilities generation capacity. That is the remaining generation that "Glowing Government Emissions Reports" hasn't shut down due to expense to meet the next new emissions standard. For example 25% of the nuclear waste causing electric power from our local AZ nuke plant goes to Los Angles, CA. Guess who will get to deal with the nuclear waste: Arizona Ratepayers.

Tuesdak, Excellent ! They don't call us "Calastupidfornia" for nothing !
"They" want to take out Hydro power dams, which product clean energy, and replace them with what ? Solar panels and wind turbines ?
Oh sure, those two thing things will provide ALL the power we'll ever need ! Yeah, right, sure ! Do "They" realize that in order to get (Even) close to 100% power output from solar panels, they must be kept clean ?
How much energy will they produce at night ? None !
All this EV Bovine Excrement stuff is being driven by GOVERNMENT where it should be driven by consumers. However, if "They" tell a lie often enough, the "Sheepal" will start to believe it. ESPECIALLY, the little buckets of mush in the public school system !!!
