My 6.7 2007 overheated today at a stop light. I was towing with the temps at normal, then my Edge alarm went of at 224 deg and before I could get out of traffic it made it to 240 when I shut it down. I sat for about 10 min and started it. It started to cool down slowly then we heard a dull click sound from under the hood and the stock temp gauge dropped in temp really quick and the temp worked fine for the rest of the 60 mile tow with a couple 3rd - 4th gear hills of 4-5 miles long.
I had the electric fan clutch replaced after we found it was not working. Now when it kicks it I can definitely hear it. I did notice that if the temp gets to 213 deg the fan clutch will engage, but it didn't seem to this time. I did notice the temps were getting up to 213 deg which it never use to do at all.
I have not looked for any codes as yet, but will tomorrow.
