Mine gradually ran hotter and hotter while towing but never empty. Then I started having problems in heavy traffic. WATER PUMP fixed the problem. :)

Did you try what David C suggested. Have someone rev the engine and see if either upper or lower hoses collapse, I hope this might help.

what fails in a water pump to keep it from pumping properly??? Can the impeller fall apart? Just a dumb question...

thanks

Eric

the hoses have been checked and replaced in the last month. they are fine. but thanks for the help.

on the water pump the weep hole has started to seep just a drop or two a day. thanks for the help

oh well does not matter now anyway. lost third gear tonight. my wife and daughter called to say they could not go any further and had to switch vehicles. I did make it home mostly in 2nd.

fred swanson will come to the rescue on sat.

Wanted to let all know... . Been finding alot of fan clutches that are not "calibrated" from there factories. If that fan isn't roaring halfway between 190 and that first white line the fan is not working as it should. Which effects that auto trans also. That little round Bi metallic "spring" on the front of the fan clutch only moves a small amount (Between what the clutch fan thinks is cold and hot) anyway you can take the "Tail" of the spring and preload the spring as to have the fan engage sooner. Thinkin that the bi metal starts to get out of wack in time. I have had to do this tweek on brand new units Had a new one turn on at 260 on a gas engine tweaked it and now works perfect every time at 220 or so... ... ... .

When you Replaced The Radiator

Did you inspect the intercooler and A/C condensor, for debris. could be clogged up not letting enough air get thru.
