Light keeps coming on with this code. I've cleared it a couple of times, but as soon as the accelerator gets close to the floor it comes back on. It's a 2008 3500 4x4 C&C with 103k on the clock.

The trouble code description for "P-1011" is Fuel Pump Delivery Pressure Too Low . I would start with the easy things first such fuel filter. Then move on to fuel pump or lift pump in tank. Hope this helps? Maybe some other members that have experience with this will chime in.

I think that code is set by a software programming issue that results in incorrect reading.

Have you had the latest reflash done? I think that is one of the erroneous trouble codes the latest reflash was intended to correct.

Is this for a 6. 7ltr or a truck in your sig. ?

Info is in the original post.

I'm not sure what flash it is. I'll check. It does have the sticker on the visor.

It doesn't seem to affect drivability, and if I watch the rail pressure when it happens, nothing appears to be wrong.

I am not sure if the 3500 C & C are the same as the pick-up trucks for software flashes. But if they are then you have an AK version, my latest flash was AS and this was done in June of 09. I have read on another forum that the 08 pick-up trucks are now being flashed with an AV version. Per a Dodge Service Tec on this forum each model year will have their own flash version and this will be designated by different letters at the end of the software flash.

There is a web site for Chrysler products to find the latest flash for your truck. Click on this site and then on the left hand side bar click "J2534 Flash Availability". You will then need to do a search for your model of truck.

Hope this helps you and good luck.

That's what they told me today at the dealer. The tech was really nice. This isn't my truck, it is one I was thinking about buying. Tech said the truck had been a frequent visitor to the service department. They have done everything dodge has recommended to fix it to no avail. It has had this problem for about 25000 miles. They have replaced lift pumps, CP3, FCA a couple of times the whole engine was even replaced around 80k.

I never could catch it doing this, but the tech showed me where it would be requesting a rail pressre of 26000 and it would only actually produce 22000. Just a second or two of that and the light would come on. Since it is out of warranty and the original owner has traded it in (to an unknowing dealer friend of mine) they have pretty much washed their hands of it.

The tech did tell me to try a couple of things. Replace the rail pressure sensor, and try a different lift pump system like an airdog or a fass. I think I'll just stay away from the truck.

on edit,

I just wanted to add that I hate that the truck has this problem. It is a really nice truck, drives and rides good, and I really like the way the transmission works. I think I'll keep looking and find me one like it.

Looks like they did everything but fix the truck, They need to check the fuel pressure limit valve "pop off" counter with a scan tool. Most likely the fuel pressure limit valve is leaking at the higher fuel pressures.

Mike...

Is the official name for the valve "fuel pressure limit valve" and where does it sit on the engine?

I'm embarrassed to admit this... but we're going through our records, when our 08 5500 was new we installed a set of filters, a 10 micron and 2 micron assembly on the frame rail... at its assigned service we missed changing these filters so they have been on the truck close to 100K... . We'll get this part caught up as well as some other maintenance and do a re-test...
