"P1689 (M) No Communication Between ECM

and Injection Pump Module

Data link circuit failure between ECM and fuel injection

pump. Low power, engine derated, or engine stops. "





If the truck is running OK, then I'd say it had been a bad connection between the VP44 and the engine harness. The code will go away if there is about 30 starts with out an recurrence, not sure when the MIL lamp would go out



If the truck doesn't run, then I'd say to Disconnect, Clean with contact cleaner or alcohol, and resemble the plug between the VP and the engine harness. Moose00

turned out a new ecm was the trick to this one, and they are pricey
