Last week I installed my AirDog FP150. Afterwards I had to drive home, about 15 miles. Half way home I felt a change in power. It was instant, but is now constantly that way. It drives totally normal, just a lot less power.

It wont smoke at all either (It normally should roll coal). I've heard people say 'limp mode' and thats what this feels like. My check engine light came on, but I cant remember if that was right when I first started it after installing the AirDog or if it came on when driving home, but I think it was at the first start.

Again, the only code the dash shows is the P1693, but I realize I need a diagnostics tool to really know whats going on.

I have two additional things to add:

1. the turbo was not working for the last couple weeks but I fixed that today (boost canister plunger rod came disconnected from the waste gate arm due to the snap ring falling off). I've got better boost now, but still no power.

2. the truck wont start unless I get the airdog to run by tapping the starter first so that I have pressure (20lbs). This is likly a completly different issue but its annoying.

So i'm gonna hook it up to the OBDII reader tomorrow but I want to see if anyone has ideas.

(my VP44 has less then 10,000 miles on it, although I hear that means nothing)

Oo. (the girlfriend really wanted me to add the green jumping guy)

The OBDII showed me two codes:

P-0238 (MAP SENSOR VOLTAGE TOO HIGH)

and

P-0237 (MAP SENSOR VOLTAGE TOO LOW)

I cleared the codes to get a current view of what the truck thinks is wrong, and the P-0238 is the only one that wont go away.

I followed the dodge diagnostic procedures the best I could and I got about 5. 2V at the terminals of the MAP sensor's connecter (using the connectors ground).

The next step is to test the volts using ground and the sensor itself. I got much less than a volt, but I'm not confident in my procedure, as there is not any room to see if I'm even connecting to the terminals right.

Also, to correct what I said above, the VP44 has a hair under 15,000 miles, (after checking the receipt).

So, Is this conclusive? do I need to replace the MAP sensor? If so, where is the best place to get it?

Thanks,

Derek

I would unplug the comp and replug the stock harness back in first. Clear the codes and see what happens. I had a boost sensor code at one time, unplugged the harness and cleaned the connections with contact cleaner, refilled the cavities with di-electric grease and no more codes. Could be the comp tho, it has a built in boost fooler so that you do not get a check engine light with higher than stock pressures.

Im tempted to buy a map sensor asap but I should add this:

My Edge Comp all of a sudden has gotten real fussy as well. It doesnt seem to be doing anything and the buttons hardly respond. I cant always get it to turn on, and if it turns on, It likly wont change power levels.

Does this change anything? I'm going to call edge tomorrow to see what they say before I buy anything.

Unhook the comp completely and go back to stock (meaning no downloader or fueling box or boost fooler) and see what happens. My guess is the comp is messed up or an electrical connection is bad.

Godspeed,
Trent

Thats my guess also, I had the same issue and called edge. When the comp came back all was good. No Charge and, I was years out of warrenty. best of luck.

I called edge last Tuesday, and they said that that happends occasionally. I shipped the box to them and the're gonna fix it. The seem real good to deal with.

Then I unhooked the edge wiring from the MAP sensor, and plugged the stock connector back in. Truck runs great again, and after a few starts the check engine light went away.

Cant wait to get the Comp back.
