I have a gen 1 with 250000KM - bad wrist pin on #4 cyl - but still drives well. Just won't leave town with my 5th wheel the way it is.
I bought a 97 engine complete with a million KM on it - and a new 7100 on it. Crank, bore, etc all perfect. Had the head recon'd - planed, etc. Cam has some wear, assume lifters the same.
Question - has anyone tried to put a P7100 (or an engine with a P7100) into a Gen 1? I'm concerned about the clearance between the 7100 and the power brake booster. Alternatives: thinner booster off a 97, or a hydraulic system from a GM school bus.
Any thoughts?
