I just recently installed my PacBrake and had a question regarding the switch which lies on the throttle pedal.

The instructions clearly say that the switch lever should sit in front of the throttle lever, but there is no way i could manage to get that to happen. Is this a typo?

I have the level BEHIND the throttle pedal.

They talk about how it should click when you let off the pedal, and mine does, but what they don't explain is WHICH click you want to hear--the switch being pushed away from the neutral position or going back to it.

I guess the basic bottom line of this question is--when you are not on the gas at all, not touching the pedal, etc--should the throttle switch be in the neutral or activated position? When I step on my pedal, it lets pressure off the switch and goes to a neutral position.

Mine is behind as well, it is a normally closed switch that opens when you step on the gas thus deactivating the break, when you return to idle by letting off the pedal it allows the brake to reactivate.

sooooooooooo . . . do i have mine right or does it need to be adjusted?

From my thinking, the switch is being triggered when I'm NOT on the gas--so that would wrong, yes?

The switch goes behind the throttle lever. Mine was extremely touchy. I had to readjust it about 10 times before I finally got it perfect. It seemed like it kept readjusting itself. Mine is adjusted so if my foot is barely depressing the throttle, (not enough to add any RPM's to the engine), it turns off the brake. My foot has to be completely off the pedal to turn it on.

I have adjusted mine so that it takes a little movement of the pedal to turn it off. The RPM comes up just a bit. When I had it adjusted so that it was really sensitive I noticed that the brake would not come on above about 2000 RPM. Probably because the governor has the pedal down just a little. Now it will come on no matter what the RPM when I lift.
