Pacbrake vacuum cylinder

Has anybody had trouble with the vacuum cylinder on a pacbrake? When the weather gets cool it will not close all the way. If I force it closed it will not open back up. I called pacbreak

they said the cylinder was worn out. They want $123. for a new

cylinder.

I put it on the truck in June 1998. I use it loaded or towing or

empty, it is on all the time.

Have you ever cleaned the little solinoid valve? I would go to the PacBrake website for the instructions and then lube the butterfly and see what happens.

YUP!!

I replaced mine twice! The first time they gave me warranty and it went again a year later, they said warranty on a replacement part was only 6 months! Next time it is getting replaced by a BD. I have never had a problem with the solenoid valve.

If you disconnect either hose on the cyl. and hold your finger over it while working it by hand you should feel either pressure or vaccum depending on the way you are moving the cyl. If you do not feel any the cyl. is bad.

Mine acted just like yours.

I have cleaned the soleniod ,and it still dont work.

I put some air tool oil in the cylinder and that didn't help.

The only thang to do is replace the cylinder I guess.

I use mine all the time as you do. Just this morning at 5 degr. F the cylinder was sticky. After engine warm up it was just fine. I use Triflo teflon spray on the cylinder rod and it works for me.

Let us all know what you find out when you replace your cylinder. I am interested.

I found Pacbrake company to be extremely fair to deal with. Hope it is the same for you.
