we just picked up a black valve cover off ebay my old one I want to have it painted.

But how can I tell it the new one is ok and can I use the old gasket

I need some good input from you guys

that have done this THANKS Oo.

Not much to go bad with a valve cover. Inspect for cracks and gross materials from shipping on the underside, clean off/out. You should be able to re-use the existing cover gasket. I still have the original after 150k miles two sets of injectors and a valve adjustment.

Im not sure the gasket will ever go bad. LOL I've had mine off dozens of times over the last 100k. Like stated earlier if it isn't cracked, cant be much else wrong with it.

Not sure what the prices are, but if it were me I would look into having it powder coated. I know, from pictures, Bob Wagner does some pretty neat stuff.
