Off Roading Toyota Jambo at the Hammers

Competition DHRA Race @ Beech Bend Raceway

To me, once you start going to tube frames and fiberglass bodies, you've lost all function, and it is no longer a pickup truck. It becomes a drag racer, and NOTHING else. Now, if I wanted to watch purely drag racing in a non-streetable category, irregardless of my love of the cummins, top fuel would have my interest, and a (relatively speaking) "slow" diesel drag race vehicle would be just that... slow - regardless of the type of fuel used. Street-class diesel drags are cool because the trucks are functional. They still have most, if not all of their original abilities and functionality, like pulling and towing, off roading, hauling, etc. They showcase what someone can do to their own truck that they drive on the street every day. The same goes for sled pulls (well, MOST sled pull trucks are streetable... )

Maddog is a good example of a truck that maintains complete functionality, yet still is rediculously fast at the strip. Now THAT is cool stuff.

I do make exception for the cummins dragster team though. It is a team that understands their place in racing, and is respectful, helpful, and even encouraging to those building up streetable trucks. They make every effort to share their findings, knowledge and strategies with others. Theirs is an effort to advance the sport, and build the community, not to simply to boost their own egos, and pad their own pockets.

SConklin spelled my thoughts out exactly.

COMP, it's time to bring it down a notch or two on the TDR and crank it up at the track :)

I would guess you want Warren Johnson to put his is a street truck also

you dont get it , the motors every one on here are so excited about , would not go as fast in my truck, because of there lack or the ability to rev-gain

If it was so easy to run fast in a real race truck , then why arn't others going fast

Comp- Comp- Comp-

You're not gonna sit there and THINK that YOU and The professor-Warren Johnson should be even in the same sentence!!!!! PLEASE

yOU'VE GOT A LOOOOOONG ROAD AHEAD OF YOU TO EVEN CONSIDER DOING THAT..... :-laf

8300lbs runnin fast is MORE respectable that 2995lbs... put a couple of engine blocks in the bed of your truck- OH THAT'S RIGHT THERE "IS" NO BED... . :-laf :-laf :p

if you didnt know I do hang around Warren at quit a few events, he seems to like my truck . and there isn't any fiberglass on my truck

and you are?

You belittle my accomplishments , yet you can’t produce the same results . A few people have said that if they had what I do to work with , they would easily out run my record. Well some other people had spent upwards of a half million , and they can’t . I know of their recent attempts to whisper the secret lie that they have run faster , but don’t want to spill the beans until the break in to the 7’s well where are they .

I will race them any where they will show up. It’s put up or shut up time I do put my self if the same category as Scott , we make about the same power , and both are able to make the engine work in a drag racing situation. But It’s is not really important , because the fans love the diesel racers .

Here is pic of my recently updated PDR 4500rpm motor :D

Great big thanks go out to the fine crew at PDR, there all awesome folks.

WOW! One of the truly intelligent 10-15 posts out of 95... . including my BS!

Of course you all realize that someday, probably sooner than later and right wrong or otherwise, Comp is going to be rubbing elbows in the the top echelon of drag racing circles. He and several others will be laughing all the way to the bank while most of us are still racing our keyboards.

Racing daily drivers is truly awesome, hands down! But that does not take anything away from dedicated race machines like the minority of TDR members are committed enough to operate. This is the competition forum and I am damn glad it includes input from both trailered and daily driven racers. However comparing the two to each other is pretty silly.

Hey moderators, how about starting up a personality bashing forum??? I am sure that I have a post or two that would qualify. It would be great to segregate these posts, and the vast majority of others lately, from diesel related topics.

So, how about those 6000 RPMs????

BBD - Your truck was awesome three years ago when I first saw it. The vision and workmanship you demonstrate just keeps getting better and better!!! If there were ever a TDR Innovator award, you would definitely be a top contender!

And now you go and try to put yourself up next to Scott Bentz and The Cummins Dragster team!?! Come on! One thing you don't see with Scott is he and the team are not going around saying they did this and they did that and Qwickest this and qwikest that- why don't you take a moment and look at how a 'classy' team handles themselves-AND THEN DO THE SAME. or at least try!

Scott- Keep up all the good work that you guys have ALWAYS done. "other" teams should take a page from your PROFESSIONALISM in handling the team. BEST OF LUCK IN THE NEW SEASON. :D
