what do you recommend for us old shiftless men? been thinking about the comp w/o the pump wire attached, for several reasons. i presently don't plan to BOMB the transmission any time soon. i hope the transmission can take a bit more power and torque... ... ... maybe some day, DTT TC and VALVE BODY... .....

With the Automatics You HAVE TO beef them up with a TC and VB like from Bill K. at http://www.dieseltrans.com. Then If you Run big Injectors You will end up with a smoke problem at low rpm. The tighter TC's will give some extra lag especially with a bigger Turbo . And once you go with a Box and big injectors you need a bigger one.

There are a few options that will help this problem.

1. The PE COMP or The Diesel Dynamics Version Now has New programing That will help deal with smoke issues.

2. Stay with smaller injectors :(

3. Install a "KwiKer" spooling Turbo like Piers's Super Turbo (Bombed Hx35)Or the KwikSpool Turbo (Bombed Hx40)that I sell.

4. Buy a Truck with a real transmission (ETH/DEE) :D

Honestly If I new about the aftermarket products like DDT I may have bought a Slush-o-matic! ;)

I've got a PE Comp on it's way and should be here today. :) You can see my sig as to what I'm running now. The truck runs great now but I want more. (I know, I know, I've got to go to another meeting) Will I be alright with the stock turbo or am I going to have to change? Will I notice more power than I have now?

I guess basically what should I expect.

Thanks,

Steve

Steve, You will get more power / Hp from a bigger turbo. Our 24v trucks really respond to the PE Comp box and Injectors and the addition of more charge air . Larger Compressor and turbine wheels heat the airless and offer lower drive pressures. This gives you more HP and less smoke.

Steveg, with the auto and DTT transmission mods, I would consider larger injectors, then possibly a different turbo, like Piers' SuperTurbo with a 14cm housing.

EGT's could be an issue, and on the higher levels of the Comp, you'll get up there.

DD2's and the Comp and Piers' turbo is a hard combo to beat.

This is a hard combo to beat. I have a SouthBend OFE clutch (smooth). Sam

comp etc.

went to a dealer, today, to pick up parts. name and location unknown to man. talked to the diesel tech, who btw, seems to know his stuff. he said he could turn his head about mods. told me he had sent in a vp44 with the infamous wire pierced for warantee... ... ... . no questions asked???? btw, he's the one who put me on to tdr. I KNOW, YOU ALL HOLD HIM IN ABOUT THE SAME REGARD THAT MY WIFE DOES, for sending me your way... ..... let's see, maybe if i don't eat for 6 months, and don't brush my teeth (save tooth brush and paste money) and give up deodorant and laundry and dry cleaning... ... ... ... maybe i could afford the comp... ... :D :D

Thanks for all the replies. I've got to move (hide) some ging around so I won't be sleeping in the barn before I move forward.

One other question, do I have anything to be concerned with using the comp and damaging the VP44?

Thanks,

Steve
