you may want to add to your poll " No problems for over 10K and under 50K"

Also may want to add "cheated piercing, Have a Blue Chip Pump cover"

Thats where I fall. ;) I have 30K miles with No Pump problems. (Knock on Head uhh I mean wood)

Pierced mine when I hooked up my Blue Chip FMS Premium. No problems since. I was nervous at first and took me about two weeks from install, to get it up to 55% which is the top fueling without letting my clutch slip.

Folks that respond should also note what year their truck is... .

Seems like the earlier VP-44's had a LOT more issues than the later ones... . as it should be. Products should improve over time... not get worse. :)

99 113k wire taped at about 15k still original pump but I don't drive with box on most of the time. It has had a tst, ez, comp , now a drag comp and still working.

WEL - Lessee = I've pierced my pump, and am now at 23,000 miles with no problems - where do *I* check - or maybe folks between 10 and 50,000 don't count?:p ;) :D

I'm in the same category miles included.

It's pretty obvious that piercing the wire is piercing the wire - regardless of whether you do it with a cover OR at some point outside the cover - the intended point, I'm sure, is WHETHER the pump wire is pierced - not HOW it was accomplished... ;)

Your right, My apologies..... ;)

Not sure where I fall into all this, but I am waiting till my clutch gets upgraded, and then the wire gets tapped. Between now and then Wildcat Max Flow System gets installed and I will also start using Stanadyne FP with my next fuel purchase and thereafter.

Matt

I pierced the wire and my pump lasted about 10K miles but I only set the EDGE COMP above '1' a few times. Not very good odds :(

My truck had 52,800 miles when I installed my Edge comp. Ran for about 10 minutes. It was doing real good as I increased the power levels, tried 1,2,3 and then jumped to 5, hit wot, started to launch and then the truck died. Didn't restart until I put the new vp-44 in. Learned about injection pumps the hard way.

I've been tapped for a long time since 3K no problems now 53K. I think you need to do things that can help keep your pump alive such as bigger fuel line, pusher pump, and a gauge.

I agree Mad Bomber. My next setup will be the pusher/bigger fuel lines/no banjo combo. For now all is good but it definitely won't hurt.

:)

well i have not done it but i am planning on it... i hope im lucky, i have a gauge, Mad, could you go further into the install of the line and pusher pump?

With a 99 it's a BIG RISK to pirce the wire. The injection pumps have a higher failer rate.

I replaced all the fuel line from the tank to injection pump with -6 line and A-N fittings. I put a carter 7# 100 GPH pusher pump near the tank. I also put a 35 micron filter before the pusher pump. Summit racing carrys all the parts that are needed to make the set up.

Where are you at

If your in the NW I'd be glad to show you.

I may be tempting fate here, but I've got 145,000 miles on the truck, the last 120,000 pierced with TST boxes of numerous types. I've also piggybacked VanAaken with the TST, then an Edge EZ with the TST. I'm running the TST PM3 competition now (it's insane). Also, after 100,000 miles, I skinned all the insulation off the pump wire and the 12 volt source wire and hard-soldered the connections. This eliminated the periodic code setting I was getting.

How long will it last? Who knows. I plan on finding out. I'm shooting for over 250,000 miles.

Am I lucky? I better be... . I've got a #53 block too!!!
