I just installed a Peragon hard bed cover on my 2003. I had a Roll-n-Lok on my 2000 Ram, and changed brands- too pricey, nice line in the vinyl top after less than a year of use.
The Good: The Peragon is collapsible, still too new to open easily. Locks, and appears weatherproof. No vinyl toplayer to wear out, and the fit and finish is very nice. Currently, a cheap price- under $500 or so, delivered. This is half the RollnLock, and a couple hundred the Pace Edwards, with much better quality, IMHO. The directions are written by someone whose native tongue must be Swahili, but I did get it on in a couple of hours- no cussing, no drilling, 3 tools. The entire top is removable and lightweight enough to take out of the truck, without removing the rails, if you need to haul a bigger load. It will fold up to about 6" in the front of the truck. Locks easily, leaves the tailgate open.
The bad: Needs a second locking mechanism to lock the tailgate, not compatible with toolboxes. Or Mopar Bed Extenders ( if anyone wants to buy one with less than one month, 1700 miles on it, let me know!) The bottom of the mechanism runs a bar across the front of the bed, which will have to come out before the whole bed can be used for hauling. This part comes out easily, however, with two wing nuts. The cover can fold up and stay out of the way without this piece, so you can still use your whole bed if you need too.
All in all, I would recommend. Bumming about the bed extender though!
