Several times today I had a “ perform service” message.
It stayed on the screen for maybe 15 sec and went away. No CEL. This is a 2015 with Aisin.
I have 80% fuel filter life and 40% oil life.

Any ideas?

Thanks

The PERFORM SERVICE light refers to replacement of the CCV filter. As a rule, those replacements are mileage driven at 67,500 mile intervals. I’ve never heard of one coming on intermittently like you just described.

Hmm, I am at about 67,000 miles.
What is the CCV filter? Expensive?

Actually, the perform service light does come on around the 67k mark, but is not necessarily for the CCV filter. Mopar recommends doing an EGR cooler cleaning at this interval. The cooler can get clogged with soot and cause a lack of EGR flow. If changing the CCV filter does not clear the message, which I am betting it won't, Then try this. Key on, push brake pedal to floor twice, throttle to floor twice. key off. Do this kinda slow, but must be complete by 10 seconds. So key on, brake, brake, throttle, throttle, key off all within 10 sec. This will turn the message off.

Bad info. The OP has a 2015. Neither Mopar or Cummins recommends egr service for 2013 and newer trucks. You are correct about the fact that changing the ccv will not clear the light. That’s where the brake and throttle come in.

I'm pretty sure that's only for certain years of Ram's.

Also, OP, do you have a code reader to check and see what specific codes were given?

This BAD INFO comes straight from mopar training guys. I don't think I would spend my hard earned money doing an egr cooler cleaning. But that is what they are recommending. Straight from their mouths. So if it is bad info, that is what mopar is spreading. On that note. My 08 had perform service light for a long time with no codes until I figured out it is just a way for them to get you to come back in to do something to the truck. So If your confident all your service is done I would clear it and head down the road.

Ok. So there isn't a way to clear it on the EVIC? Instead it is a combo of brake/throttle applications?

Bob4x4 did also recommend EGR service even though the manual doesn't specify it.

How much time and headache is that?

I did my CCV filter at 4.5 years. But that was only 42,000 miles. Guess I'll do the EGR at 70k.

Since this is the 4th GEN section.....and Lynx0849 has a 2015...and you mentioned owning a 2008.....it means nothing.

I would have to say that it is.....since 2013 was the first year for DEF pickups.

Might be in editing the 2012 manual, to include some things from the 2012 manual (maintenance section)..... They removed it from the 67,500 mile maintenance and forgot to remove it from the 135k maintenance.

Because It's not there at 67.5K. But is at 135k.
