Big A, the VA CPC adds an additional (small) amount of fuel although, I believe it is not enough to stress the injection pump. I have never heard where the addition of a VA resulted in injection pump failure (as "can" be the case with most other boxes).

I installed my DD3 injectors yesterday (with the help of my supervisor/peanut gallery... . Rob Hanson #ad
). Talk about a difference! #ad
#ad
One thing is for sure, the DD3s outperform my old Bosch 275/VA CPC combination!

First Impressions: smoother engine idle with a slight reduction in engine noise (at idle anyway). The DD3s don't have quite as much punch JUST OFF IDLE (Duh!) as the VA CPC provided however, at anything above say 1200 rpm... LOOK OUT! #ad
#ad
Oh by the way, did I mention VERY LITTLE SMOKE? Man, these things rock!

Thanks Diesel Dynamics! #ad

Not sure what you are meaning by "peanut gallery!!!"

I couldn't have enjoyed it more! Thanks for all the coffee, too. Helped keep me warm!

John, don't get so excited, you're getting me itchy for DD3s! It is difficult to resist temptation! Keep us posted on MPG & driveability, and in the meantime wipe that big grin off you face before it sticks that way #ad

A friend of mine that recently installed a set of DD3s experienced the best mileage he has EVER gotten with his Ram on a trip to/from Montana... . with 4. 10s to boot #ad
All the power and mileage too, how the he!! can you possibly beat that?

..... pinch me, I'm gonna take the Ram and get a lottery ticket! Woohoo! #ad

Good one Evan, *LMAO*

It is usually a 2-day trip for him, but you know either one of us could easily do it in less than a day, even with 4. 10s #ad

For you LMAOers... it was adverse conditions... packed snow/ice, etc. I held 60mph on the flats, and played up to 70mph on the passes, leaving the cars and semi trucks behind!
I also went up several very steep passes... lookout, 4th of july, columbia gorge, and snoqualmie. I did not just drive on the flats from seattle to enumclaw every day! That shows nothing... might as well live in floriduh! Oh, I forgot... you don't have 4X4, better stay off the passes!
Turtle Expedition... I got your turtle...come and get it!

Congrat's John, those DD3's are awesome #ad

Evan... Helluva lot steeper than the roads you drive on day by day! Unless of course, the I5 corridor has changed a bit.

I was speaking of steep as in . .
You get better mileage on the flats than you do in the mountain passes. It is certainly flatter down I5 than it is on I90.

I take it you have not been to Magnolia recently... Some big hills I have to go up every day. Isn't that right Mike? #ad
Plus, I go up the SR518 Seatac hill every day, and that is much steeper than Snoqualmie. Also, the I-5 grade from Southcenter heading south is also steeper than Snoqualmie Pass.

HEHEH

Isn't this fun? *LOL*

Magnolia? Evan, you are totally missing the point. How many miles is it up snoqualmie? How many up out of the columbia gorge? Now, how many is it up your "steep" hill to your parents house? On the mileage, it makes a big difference.
I purchased my Ram for towing and hauling. I do more of that in a week than you do in six months. I can put a trailer anywhere, but more importantly, in the correct neighborhood!
Also, it is my opinion that since I tow, going 75mph down the highway is dangerous. Not just for me, but for others. I personally think that those that tow that fast are asking for trouble. And if they get trouble, they deserve it. The poor other person that gets hurt or killed does not.

Now, tell all of us again about the great mileage you get, despite having to go up that extremely steep hill, EVEN IF IT IS ONLY 100 YDS LONG! After all, we were talking about mileage. Justify that!
Isn't this fun? *LOL*

Yeah, but here's the kicker...

I do it every day... And it probably comes out to about 3-4 miles/day of pretty steep uphill driving. Multiply that by 5, and you get 15-20 miles/week, and 60-80 a month. That's a **** of a lot more than a couple of runs up the pass.

And on another note, doing 75 when everyone else is doing 75 is not dangerous. It's the guys going 62 (or so) while everyone else is doing 70-75 is what is dangerous.

As for mileage, I get about 22 avg, with 65-70% of it on the highway, and 30-35% in city, stop & go. Most of the city driving occurs on the weekends, and getting to and from the highways every day. We'll see what the DD3's give me, but I am expecting 24 avg. Plus, the PSA helps as well, the same way your hood does. Also, how much does that hydrolysis unit help your mileage? A guy at BD was asking about that on Friday...

Hey, howcome my **** profanity doesn't show up anymore??? Grrrrr...

To the residents of the greater Puget Sound.

I will be selling presale tickets to: Hill Climb-winter 2000. This event will fall on our first icy or snowy day in Seattle,or just possibly our first heavy rain. The entertainment will be watching Evan try to get a DD stage III equipped Ram with a 6spd up the hill his folks live on in Magnolia.
Keep an eye on the weather channel and the events forum for details. Video cameras and 4x4's encouraged to attend. #ad
