Before it was an enviro-sin, we buried them. Out of sight and fairly temperature stable. When we built the last house we put a 500 gal skid tank in the basement.

That’s why people around New England puts their oil tanks in the cellar.

We had a 1000 gal underground when we got our first house, but it had a leak in it. I ended up putting 2 250 gal tanks tied together in our old coal cellar and we have never had a problem.
