Pics of 2011 Ford 6.7

I threw some pics up in another thread, but figured many would miss them there. We got 2 2011 Ford 6. 7s in at work the other day; an F350 XLT and an F450 XL. Apparently Ford sent them out to get a little "oilfield testing" before they get released in 3 or 4 months. So these are either pre-production or very early builds.

I see they are Halliburton trucks... I think they have one in Texas also. . I saw a truck while on their yard the other day that I thought "looked funny" but I was in a hurry to chase down a Panther so I didn't get a close look at it.

I sincerely hope it is as good as they say it is for the sake of Ford mehanics out there. It raises my blood pressure just thinking about someone having to work on it.

That looks like a TOTAL nightmare to work on! I heard they were going to call it "Scorpion" in 2010, not "Powerstroke".

Ford kept their powerstroke name (and probably a smart idea for diehard Ford fans). Scorpion was the "code" name to fool people and spys. As if that ever works. That and those black bra's on the front ends.



What advantage is there to seeing the ground? I mean... I can see the ground on lots of vehicles. I still have to remove 25 items before I can get to what I want to work on. I must make some feel good... cause thats all its worth to me.

I like being able to "see the ground" too. It is much easier to work on an inline engine than a V engine. I still do not know why the Ford folks went with a V8 instead of a inline 6.

Agreed, but additionally, with a name like "Scorpion", ford would be implying that this beast of hoses, clamps, knuter valves, and time flux capacitors might actually be the best diesel engine on the market. :-laf:-laf:-laf I also agree that this monster will be a heart attack, not ache, to work on. Good luck all you auto shop mechanics!

I pity the poor ford mechanic that has to work on that thing! Do anything more than an oil change and it looks like the cab has to come off. Hopefully its got quick disconnects on all the electronics. Don't drop anything either or else you may never see it again.

Wish I had bought stock in automotive hose, clamp, and tubing companies. It does remind me of what the plumbing of the 70's Detroit cars were like when emissions kicked in high gear. Maybe down the road they can clean this mess up like they did on the cars. Ford really ought to make these hinge on the front to make them have some access. Of course that won't be needed when you can get 300,000 miles out of them with no repairs, right?
