Ford 6.0 info

No real news to report on the test units. Theyre still running, no major issues that I know of. I do believe they go back to Ford this month, likely to be crushed after some testing is done or whatever they want to do with them.

Im sure we'll have some of the first off the hauler when they are released. Thats when issues come up, when you get 20 or so in the fleet with different drivers at the wheel, production ones too. Test units may be different than the final product

I assume the trucks your company is using are the ones listed on the new Super Duty website?

I noticed that they are supposedly keeping track of miles, hours, etc for the various test vehicles out there.

Yes, the Halliburton ones. And I can tell you they are off. The 350 says its accumulated 1,260,000lbs worth of weight being towed... yet its had a trailor on it maybe 5 times with maybe 10k worth of payload on a ~5k trailer.

The 450 is probably fairly accurate, because they haul all the hoses and iron for the cement crew.

How they figure the accumulated payload, I dont know. But the 350 (91klbs) being higher than the 450 (70klbs) doesn't seem accurate to me.

Id say they are inflating numbers substantially... but thats just a guess.

I'm actually anxious to test drive one. Just to see what they're about.

One thing I will say is that they look better in person than they do in pictures.

Ended up at the Furd dealer yesterday (my bride bought an Escape). They had a 2WD Lariat on the lot so I got to take a look and start it up. Very quiet, but you'd expect that from the newer diesels. Very comfortable seats and a nice layout. Much improved from all previous models. Similar, I think, to the new Rams especially the display in between the gauges.

Sticker on this puppy, $57,000.

um, i need four. . water a Gatorade, empty water bottle, and a hole for my two phones!!
lol every turn i make now **** falls into the driver floorboard!!
(passenger floor id full of trash and empty bottles!!)

I only have a 06 mega, but i need more room for my CRAP!!!!!! and some tools!!

Thank you! I've been saying that for a couple years now! Fer Pete's sake, we get it, it's a SUPER DUTY!

Windshield, both side badges, passenger side interior, front grille, and tailgate.

And while we're ranting, what the heck does "super duty" mean anyway? I mean, it's supposed to be heavier than heavy duty? Or by "super" do they mean "fabulous"? Now there's an idea - instead of "SUPER DUTY" imagine the whole truck festooned with "FABULOUS DUTY" badges!

Ryan

Have you ever got up in the morning and walked outside only to find some dog left DUTY on your lawn? OK, now picture a SUPER DUTY!!!:-laf

I am not seeing anything like the Ram in these pics! The Ram is soooo much better looking inside and out! Plus take a look under the hood and tell me which you would rather work on... I think your answer is not going to be the Ford! I can never in my life figure out why anyone would buy a truck that doesn't have the Cummins in it. It wouldn't matter who made it! True HD vs. Med to light duty... the choice is clear to me. But apparently not to those who buy Chevys and Fords. I have to say that your bride is a funny lady:-laf

That is why I buy the trucks in my family and leave the car buying to the wife!

Had to post this...

As mentioned my wife bought an Escape. Well we've had to bring it back to the dealer a couple of times to fix a dent and paint chips.

Today I brought it back and while we were working out a loaner, I asked if they had sold any of their new fancy duties. He said that they hadn't, probably because no one wanted to pay $55k+ for one. I said that Dodge and Furd are really proud of their trucks with the prices their asking.

He said, "Heh, Dodge tries to make a truck that competes with us, but we're the only TRUE truck builder. "

I told him if they put a Cummins in it I might consider one. He replied, "Well we put them in our larger trucks. "

I left it at that as I want the paint chips fixed correctly.

Ignorant Furd people.

I've always heard "there's no cure for stupid. " I believe it is true.

Last Sunday I was hustling home from Mississippi pulling my 14,000 lb. HH fiver after a quick RVing vacation trip and got an unexpected chuckle.

I passed about a 2005-2008 Furd dually with gooseneck trailer hooked up sitting in an entrance ramp dead in the water, apparently waiting for a tow. I used to see that sight about once every two weeks several years back when I was transporting and the Sick. Ohh Furds were big sellers. If I hadn't had my trailer in tow Sunday I would have stopped and offered to tow the guy into the next town just for the pure pleasure of watching his pain.

Absolutely true.

I'm just waiting to see something of the sort... But I don't travel on the interstate much, at least lately.

Another thing that sells the Dodge trucks, at least in my eyes, is that in the oilfield about 85% of all hotshot drivers I see drive Dodges with the mighty Cummins. 10% are Furds and the other are GMC/Chevy.

And a lot of those Dodges are 2nd and 3rd gens.

Thats just plain MEAN Harvey!!!. . To get pleasure out of somebody elses pain and misfortune... hahahaha... j/k. Actually, it would be a full time job dragging S/D's to the local Ford shops. I see them littered up and down I-20 here in East Texas... I'm always on the road, so I get to see lots of them. I would stop from time to time, but usually in my service truck and on my way somewhere more important. I DID have to get a Dodge off the road the other day though... Lift pump failure!!. . one of those stupid ones thats mounted on the filter base!!.

I talked to one of the engineers at AFE Friday they have one of the new powered Fords . It runs good but the ck engine light came on during the drive to their shop from the dealer :-laf

Another good chuckle!

Yeah, as Wingate wrote above, I'm mean-spirited when it comes to Furds and Furd owners. I know I should feel guilty but I always chuckle at them.

I will stop and help them though, when I can. I picked an oil field electrician up out here on US-82 between Crosbyton and Dickens a few months ago when his Sick. Ohh Furd and old fifth wheel were sitting on the side of the road with no heat and the outside temperature was down in the 20*s. My wife and I brought him home and gave him hot coffee while his buddies made it up here from Odessa with two more Furds to recover his truck and trailer.

The good thing is that you helped the guy... I am HOPING that my new service truck iis going to be better than the 6. 4l... . They have been delayed several weeks due to having to relocate the UREA tank and possibly the fuel tank to make room for the air compressor tank...

These are the first F-550's with UREA that the outfitter has dealt with. So I'm sure they are making engineering revisions as they go...

IMO, they can take as long as they like, as long as they are RIGHT when we get them.
