Here is the Alpenlite Camper we traded in on the Alpenlite 5th wheel I posted earlier. We hauled this camper on our 95 l ton for many trips to dog shows and fishing trips.

Did not have the overloads on when this photo was taken.

It's at Eureka Summit approx 150 miles north of Anchorage.

Crazy Horse, I should have guessed that! I've never pulled the 5er up there but we cruised Alaska earlier this year and I must say it's the most beautiful area I've ever seen! We stopped at Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, Sawyer Glacier, and Prince Rupert, B. C. ! Absolutely loved Alaska!

I love Alaska too. We got married in Ohio in 1982 , our honeymoon was the drive to Alaska. Took our time, 30 days to get there. We were going to live there for 3 years save our money and move to Montana... Absolutely fell in love with it. I always said it's a grownups playground if you like the outdoors.



We ended up living there for 23 years.

Don, that may be too much camper for your truck. It sure is squatted. That camper requires a Class IV truck, which is a 4500. That's according to my RV Consumer Group Guide.



My 11' 3" Lance also required a Class IV truck, but it didn't squat near that much. Camper has no slide outs. Picture taken in Alaska in 06. The jacks were down only to stabilize the camper when moving about inside, however I would never try to pick up the truck and camper with them. The camper is suppose to weigh 4500 lbs wet, but I believe we were much heavier with the way my wife packed it for a two month trip to Alaska. The bed on my truck has a payload of 4750 lbs+/-.

Well Grizzly, you may be correct. I hauled so many heavyweights on 1/2 ton pickups, I thought I was in tall clover with a one ton. The camper has an empty weight of 3789 on the sticker, which is about as light as one can get for a full length double slide I think, I have not weighed it separately, but loaded with all the essentials like 75 gal of fresh water and lots and lots of food, fuel, and drink, I tip the scales at one or two lbs over 12k. I once weighed the pickup separately, I will have to dig that out to see what the load actually is. I tried to find the basis for RV Consumer Group opinions, but they won't even tell me who said that without paying them a healthy fee FIRST, so it is hard to know who said what and why, sometimes the opinion of some person that never hauled one isn't worth much, especially if his sole purpose in live is to sell his opinions. The previous owner hauled it around on a 3/4 ton GMC and was happy with that!

We have put on 17500 miles in it since last October, and I CAN attest that it handles like a dream in all situations including snow and ice covered roads, border to border and coast to coast. My wife has a nasty habit of collecting rocks from the whole USA, so sometimes we get heavy. My air bags leak down, so most of the time photos are taken showing rear sag, which disappears when the engine is running, I usually have the regulator set at 40lbs of bag air. I don't know if the MorRyde rear suspension lets it sag or not, but it might. I just sent a query to Host, to see what THEY say about how much truck one needs.

Here is my set of Doubles. . I have the Rhino in the trailer and 2 quads on the utility.

Set is 72' long total. . Around 26K
