Piers has done some work in the shaft area. What he has done is secret in this area and in the exhaust housing area. I have looked at a couple of stock HX-40s on the C cummins(I teach Auto service in a trade college and right next store is the diesel tech shop and they have 5 Cs) and I can see some of what he has done to this SUPER TURBO. But I know I can see everything. The intake impeller has more vains on it than the stock ones do and I can see some of the machining he has done on the exhaust side.

Piers has probibly done more R&D than anyone on these 12 valves. He has been very forth right and answered all of my questions. We wouldn't be turning 4000 RPMs w/o Piers and he's the one that found the proper 370 injectors. I believe that this SUPER turbo will be just as big a milestone for us hopelessly addicted bombers:eek: :D

Hey Don, the grenaded HX40s are/were in NO WAY limited to the units from Majestic (modified or otherwise). I know for fact that there were a bunch of defective HX40s right from Holset. I also know for fact that a well known Diesel performance company had to "eat" eight HX40s that died an extremely premature death (that were unmodified) because Holset would not warrant them.

Isn't that one fine how-do-ya-do!

PS: I'm beginning to think you 12v guys are the type that could break a crowbar in a sandbox.

:eek::eek:

:D:D:D:D

Well I finally got a couple of tanks of fuel through the truck since the turbo and I'm seeing a trend, Milage is UP 3/4 MPG on winter blend fuel:D  :D  :D

Big thumbs up!

drawson, you know there's no end to all this don't you. I really enjoy reading your enthusiastic reviews. It's looking like Piers may have "THE" turbo, at least for the moment since the mark is always moving.

It seems like there is a wall at somewhere around 550 to 600hp that everyone runs up against with #2 only in a daily driver. However, I can see it now, to get that "Need for More Speed" fix after hitting the 600hp wall, it'll be fiberglass hoods, fenders, and bumpers, light weight batteries, acid dipped doors, light weight tires and wheels, Lexan pull strap windows, racing seats, and the special DODGE LITE CUMMINS DIESEL is born. Can you imagine a 4500 lb. pumped up 600hp, 1300ft. lb. , CTD. :D :D :D

Piers knows

when it comes to fine tuning the turbo's Piers is the master.

I would bet bucks on Piers HX40 success

Don M, Always trying to stay one step a head aren't you? You heard the thunder of your Cummins yet????

ZEEEW When you want to go? Is your plate here yet???

John, that IS a good thought. And of course we know Big Bob is up there a little bit in HP and he didn't lose that much off the top end when he replaced the HX40. We know how much he likes his PDR. Also, it is at least $250 cheaper (haven't checked exact prices though).

Big Bob wasn't real keen on losing anything at the top end although he really wanted to gain back bottom end driveability. He seems real pleased with his decision.

Additionally, a turbo mounted exhaust brake can be utilized with the HX35 Super Turbo whereas, you will have to go with one of the two remote mounted exhaust brakes if the HX40 is utilized.

Did I forget to mention the stronger turbine shaft in the HX35 Super Turbo? :D

BTW Bob (Wagner), it's no real secret that MikeR is going to get an HX40 for his Ram... or was that censored? :p
