I just installed Piers' new turbo and cam plate setup. He said to install the cam plate in the middle and work my way foward. So I figured I would start all the way foward and work my way back. With the plate all the way foward it would pull 48 lbs of boost and the EGT's hit 1500 deg. Not as fast as with the old turbo set up. Good power all the way to the top end. I then slid the plate to where Piers wanted me to start at in the first place and got 42 lbs boost and 1350 deg at 80 MPH. I didn't notice much power loss from the first setting but the EGT'S were lower. No lag at all on the bottom end.

Hey Dave,
Wasn't it enough that your truck was too powerful for the dyno last time? Now you have to really embarass our lady-man trucks this time. If you need more weight for the bed than guys, then you can use my little '95.

Brian,
The truck drives real good with the new setup. The main goal of this new setup is to help lower the EGT'S. The cam plate I removed was the same one Piers ran in his blue 98. It made excellent power but the EGT'S were up there. The new plate cuts back some of the fuel and gives you good power you can use.

I Talked to Piers Today and he will post the details about the new turbo setup as soon as he gets his computer up and running. He has been having some problems with his server.

Dave... is this the turbo that was designed to help reduce EGTs while still allowing the use of an exhaust brake at the elbow?

Tell us more!

I love my 4" BD brake too. I just came all the way through the Syskious(sp) from south to north with a cgvw of 17000+ and never needed the brakes. I have 60# valve springs and see up to 48psi on the backpressure gauge. I never used 4th gear or the brakes. I love this setup. I may need to use the HX40 as I did see 1350 a few times. The HX40 won't even effect my 4"BD. #ad

Finaly got server service back #ad

Okay the turbo is for those guys that want more/better performance than the HX35, but not the expense that comes with the HX40, especially if you have a turbo mount exhaust brake. It will bolt to your existing exhaust housing, whatever size that may be... 12, 14 or the 16 housings. It gives about 8 more lbs of boost over the HX35 & faster spoolup. Dave is currently beating on his... he fueled it up again to 48lbs boost so we can see if it'll hold together okay at that boost level, cause I know any of you guys that install one will wastegate it for a lot less #ad
They will be offered on an exchange basis, they will be fully rebuilt turbo's with a custom pinwheel & the compressor housing machined out to match. Thay will be complete less exhaust side housing, unless someone wants to upgrade to a bigger housing than they currently have. They fit all the years that have an HX35 turbo & I'm working on making them available for the older 89-93 Dodges. Can't give you a price as per forum guide lines, but can say they are under $700. 00. Oh & they will have a full 1 year warrenty

Hey Piers am I right in thinking that with more air you will see less egt? If so how much would you guess.

Blair, my testing said about 200 degrees, but it's colder up here. How about I send one down & you do some testing for me, must be in the balmy 70's down there by now eh #ad

You know me I will test anything... ... I just recieved a new design Southbend clutch today I am going to try to get it in Sunday and do some testing, might need new HP to go with it. O by the way it cooled off into the 60's, not good should be back to the 80's next week.

Piers,
Say I buy your set up and 6 months later I want to go bigger to the full HX-40 is that possible?

If you want another test truck, I'm game!

Thanks
Brian Cobb

Also, thanks for all the R&D you do. It's dudes like you that keep the BOMBING alive.

today.

My thanks to you and your "test mule"

testing you have done on this new turbo!

We are all lucky to have you in this
