I'm not really impressed with the fit of the pillar pods from either manufacturer, the last one I installed had to be modified to get the bottom gauge cup off the dash. ( I drilled & tapped a new hole in the steel A-pillar, slightly higher than the existing hole for the grab handle bolt)

Any of y'all been faced with this problem, or did I just get a truck that had a slightly higher dash? :D I did try 3 different pods, they were all the same.

Previous '03's I've done, the owners all chose the steering wheel pod, which I've found is an excellent fit.

Guage Install

Hi. I'm a new member--just got my '03 2500--and have been debating guage position also. I thought about the pillar mounts, but I was interested in the steering pod. From the pictures I have seen, I can't tell if it blocks the speedo/tach/etc. What does yours look like? Are the factory guages still easily visible?

got my pod from genos horrible fit. if you get these for the 03 get ready to fight it. i got the red a$$ and when that happens either something breaks or it fits... it fit. . then to i went to light them up an one on of the light bulbs backed out :mad: #@$%! tools went flying kicked the dog you how it goes... . pulled it out got grease all over the ceiling. got it reinstalled everything works fine. had some car carpet cleaner took the grease off the ceiling. the fit still sucks b/c at the top there is a 1/4" gap and i cannot get it to close i think i might heat the plastic to get it to close. :-{}

Tom,

We have done several, and most fit without a problem. We use the GOS Pro-Pods, and must cut the handle. We, and our customers have been happy with the fit and finish of the setup. We DO use the push pins, and the old pillar.

Don't know what to tell you. :(

I decided to go with the cubby hole mount from Quadzilla and Isspro marine EV gauges (pyro,transmission temp, boost). The steering column mount blocks the odometer & gear selection display...

Tom,

I have the same problem in both trucks. Not to big a deal though. I did have to trim the bottem of the pod about a half inch. I am pretty happy with mine.

Warning: Remove your stock handle. Do not cut the Handle off. Replace the entire pod!!!!!!!!

John, Do the gages sit back a little in the cubby or are they mounted pretty much flush to the dash? I'd sure love to see a pic. How's the visibility?

Thanks,

Scotty

Jeff,

The steering column pod blocks the odometer and lower part of the speedometer and tach. I guess it also blocks the gear indicator if you have an automatic. It isn't too obtrusive and you can still easily read the speedometer and tach. The pod fit perfectly over the existing column cover.

Yea I got the red a$$ to with the propod install, gonna got to work on monday and get our mold maker to cast it and make some adjustments then remold it using black kydex plastic, btw the lower guage is about an 1/8 inch off top of dash!
