As for legality, concealed means you can't see it, and no you may not look inside, good day!

EMMDIESEL - Sure I can carry my firearms to any respectable and honest state ( there are 43 of them ), and through the rest of them at will, including New York and even Washington DC... .

United States Code, TITLE 18, section 926A ... Notwithstanding any other provision of any law or any rule or regulation of a State or any political subdivision thereof, any person who is not otherwise prohibited by this chapter from transporting, shipping, or receiving a firearm shall be entitled to transport a firearm for any lawful purpose from any place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm to any other place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm if, during such transportation the firearm is unloaded, and neither the firearm nor any ammunition being transported is readily accessible or is directly accessible from the passenger compartment of such transporting vehicle: Provided, That in the case of a vehicle without a compartment separate from the driver's compartment the firearm or ammunition shall be contained in a locked container other than the glove compartment or console.

My previous post notwithstanding, I offer no PC to any officer to search my vehicle, and volunteer nothing unless I have my pistol on and am in my home state or a reciprocal state legal for CCW, then it is just being polite.

The NE is not gun friendly as far as travellers are concerned. NY and CT have a real simple policy, No permit, no Handgun. We were told by the ATF and the State that anybody who walks into the range with a handgun and no permit is a felon. If we let shoot at our range we are liable. Thing are more leniant on other states but not up here.

Jus' gotta luv AZ...

I know, I'm probably considered somewhat of a radical, but I carry any one of my handguns on my side. Why? Because I can. I live in Arizona. Sometimes, I just lay it on the dash. Does this worry some people? I hope so. Just leave me alone.

As far as some of the other states are concerned, out of site and out of mind. As was said before, "Give No Probable Cause". We still do have the right to keep and bear arms in this county, despite some of the "less American" states.

Is CT a whole state? Looks pretty small on the map, kinda hard to see from out west here! We got gun ranges here two, 16 million acres in Arizona, hey thats bigger than 4 CT's isn't it?

At least they understand the problem, the only ones with guns are the criminals, that is the problem isn't it?

At least my copy of the constitution and Fed Regs allows me to pass THROUGH CT, I sure didn't need to stop there, it was a 1/4 tank state, through it before you knew it. ( Although Maine was really cool, must be part of Canada, no wait, I didn't get arrested for having my handgun in Maine, can't be an eastern state either though, I'll haveta look into that one!)

I think we all agree gun laws are insane and asinine. Cause none of us are criminals, but then criminals don't really care what the laws are, do they..... wait that means, I, you, they, oh crud... . I've never robbed a convenience store before, so why am I treated like a criminal then?

Check these links for gun laws

State Laws

Federal Laws

Right To Carry laws

And another note, There are quit a few states thet will issue CCW permits to out of state applicants

i have permits for VA, PA, and NH.

Texas will only issue non resident pemits to residents of states that do not issue CCW permits

In response to EMD's comments about waco, Which by the way I am from that area and lived there at the time. My issue with the ATF is their use of gistapo tactics they wanna use the swat team every chance they get, they would prefer to use a battering ram and knock down the door and come rushing in with the swat team. In this case there was a much better way of handling the situation. Heck koresh was known to go jogging and known to go to the store freguently all they had to do is wait and pick him up while he was out. Without going into a long story I think initially the situation was handled completly wrong however i do support the way the government handled the situation after what happened initially. To me the FBI should handle all these sorts of situation. just a few of my opinions,

The issue of probable cause is a good one. In my drving career I have been pulled over by the cops for anything from speeding to failing to dim headlights in excesse of 40 times and never once have i ever been asked if my vehicle could be searched. I know i know your thinking 40 times. All i can say when i was a youth the local cops didn't like the fact i drove a Corvette with loud crome sidepipes. If you don't look or act suspicious then they will not ask to search your vehicle and not even know you have a gun

Cummins Cowboy,

I recall that they knew his whereabouts because they followed he and others from town back to the compound... ...

And you know what,, I don't drive any slower, my trucks are bigger, and my hair greyer now that 40 is here, I wonder why I don't get pulled over like when I was 20????

Glock 23

I keep my Glock 23 in the front door panel door slot, which holds the 23 and conceals it from passersby, yet allows easy access to it.

I would not recommend leaving a gun in the car/truck overnight or for long periods unless its in the garage or its alarmed.

My parents live in Maine. Dad wanted to get a CCW so he went to the Sherrif. She lives down the road, she's over 80 yrs old, and climbs a deer stand every fall, and gets her deer!!:D

She says to him "You aint gonna go and shoot anyone... are ya?" his answer was "NO!"

She said "Dont bother with the permit, just carry it. "

Gotta love a place like that!!:D

Just dont carry in Portland.

Oh yea, another plus for Maine is class3.

Eric

PS Maine gives out non resident CCW's, as does Florida, and some counties in PA.

patriot.......fanny pack

I carry in a Tommy`s fanny pack(35. 00)gunshow price. Very comfortable.

He sells by mailorder and gunshows, let me know if you are interested in his number.

"They went out to the compound with a warrant and were shot at. "

Yes they went out there with a warrant for a meth lab that they knew full well was not there. That was their excuse to ignore Posse Comotatus(sp?) laws that were written to protect us against such abuses. There were a whole bunch of folks who deserved to spend hard time in prison, if not get the needle, for that raid.

Scot, unless you were an ATF or FBI agent there at the raid, you are speculating about the warrant and the fact it may have been bogus. Had you been to the compound and saw first hand there was no meth lab there??, Was Koresh a friend of yours?. You are stating what YOU think happend, You dont know everything, nor do i and i dont claim too either. And even if it WAS a bogus warrant, the ATF were still shot at. So you are saying its OK to shoot at police if they come to your house without a warrant?. If the Davidians were harmless why are there dead ATF agents?.

The only info the public has on this raid was given by the Media, that should say it all, if there is anybody in this world you should not trust, its the media. They LOVE controversey and do everything they can to create it.

Isn't this the problem?? Why don't we know more? Why weren't arrests made more discretely? Away from sure trouble. They knew there were kids there. They knew these people were lunatics and would shoot if accosted in their 'compound'. They did every thing to exacerbate the situation and nothing whatsoever to minimize the risk and drama. This is an embarassing and despicable event to be associated with in any way, law, press, townspeople, administration, oh, and victim.

Ruby Ridge is much the same event played on a different stage, nearly the same outcome, following procedures but not knowing or asking why, they didn't learn their lesson and did it again.

I think, and its what I think,, that some law enforcement officers, officials, field personel are just as fanatical, radical, uncaring and asinine as, well, people. The trick is finding ways to remove 'gung ho' from the force, some just don't belong.

And yes,,,, I am and have law enforcement in the family, and no, I wouldn't be allowed on raids by my standards, I am 'gung ho'! ( Besides, I make more actually working for a living! ..... discreet shot at my brother who reads this board..... )

EMDDIESEL

In Colorado and Utah,if you have a double action auto, it is considered unloaded with a mag in the firearm, because it takes two actions to discharge the weapon.

Peter

Keep it on subject please

The Waco and related political discussions have nothing to do with the question in this thread. I thank those with their suggestions on how to carry a pistol safely and accessibly in their truck.

Blake

In alaska you can conceal carry if you have a permit in any state. You can also conceal carry without a permit if you are hunting fishing hiking etc etc. Pretty cool.

Thats pretty amazing that they dont consider a mag in a double action loaded. Thats a big no-no here. Even having loaded mags in the case with your weapon will get you in trouble.
