I noticed that there is about a 1/4" gap between the Pitman arm and the base of the power steering block so I thought I would check the torque on the bolt. My 32mm socket would not fit on so I suspect it is a 1 & 5/8" Bolt. Can't believe there is not a coter pin to keep the bolt from falling off if it were to become loose and fall off you would crash for sure.

The torque for that nut is 185 foot pounds. I don't think there is an inch size nut on the truck, all metric. The space is probably normal, the shaft has a taper and many folks have said some unprintable words trying to remove the pitman arm. bg

Thanks BG, just printed my manual 1,889 pages of it and 185 ft/lbs is what it listed. Sure you are right on metric it must be either a 33mm or 34mm. You are probably right about the space but it is a little disconcerting to see when you think about the ramifications if the nut were to fall at highway speeds.
