HELP!! Tire trouble

Quick question for those with the D series trucks... . What does the pitman arm look like? Pictures would be nice too... .

I ask because I am working on a cross-over steering setup for the W250 (stock height) and I am worried about pitman arm clearance to the leaf spring. All the examples I have found are on lifted trucks (4" drop used) and looking at mine I think I need a pitman arm with about 2" of drop to clear the frame and leaf spring both.

I thought about the 2x4 arm since that is the box location on the frame used.

Any help would be appriciated.

i have a 2wd out in the back field. i can look in the morning. ill post tomorrow with your awnser unless someone beats me to it.

Sorry can't help, but please keep us informed on how this works out, I just had to replace the steering box mount because it cracked and would be interested in doing the crossover steering if I didn't have to jack the truck up, I've got the 2 1/2" Skyjackers on the front but don't want to go any higher.

Thanks,

Caleb

pitman arm help , 2 wheel drives

The pit man arms look just like the 4wd ones , they never changed them

in fact im shure the part number is the same , all the dodges that ive had look the same except the 70's ones of whiched worked difrent , my opinion

had a better mounting system , but leaked

check out www.jack-it.com my spelling may be wrong but thats a web site that has good pics

Well the plot thickens... . Guess I have to go measure again, but I was pretty sure that if you put the 4x4 box in the 2x4 location that the stock pitman arm or tie rod would hit the frame once to turned the pitman arm 90 degrees to the rear. After work I guess I need to really look at it some more. I would pull it apart and play with it except I need it drivable as it is still hooked up to my trailer. Another option may be a 2" drop chevy arm, gotta call skyjacker tomorrow and confirm though.
