Today I did my annual transmission fluid and filter change with band adjustments. The last 2 times I had it apart there was quite a bit of "crud" in the bottom of the pan. Since I did a lot of heavy towing during the past year I expected just as much or maybe even more "crud" in the pan. Imagine my surprise when I took the pan off it was almost spotless! There was a little bit of stuff on the magnet but almost nothing at all in the rest of the pan. The only changes I made right before the last fluid change was to add a Mag-Hytec pan and a BD Pressure Loc. The way it looks, there should be a lot of life left in the old transmission yet...

How many miles do you have on the transmission with the TST plate? I have the same plate on my 95 auto 2wd. and have 95,000 plus miles the last 10,000 with the TST 230-605 plate and so far no problems. I tow a 24ft trvl trl. Just wondering how long I can expect the stock trans to hold up. When the time comes I will update to a reworked torque converter and shift kit.

I have about 35K since the TST. I am not a power mad driver, I wanted enough to pull my trailer without a struggle but not so much that I needed a lot of drivetrain mods. I also watch my transmission temps which stay pretty low and try to keep my RPM's over 2000 while towing.

That's great. . so are you endorsing the MAG-HYTEC transmission pan or what??? Some of us probe-bombers are wondering!!!

Yuppie Redneck: I really like the Mag-Hytec pan but I doubt that it's the reason I have less "crud" in the pan. I think it's because the transmission is broken in and I have finally changed out most of the dirty stuff plus the higher pressures from the Pressure Loc keep the slippage to a minimum causing less wear particles to occur. Just my opinion, I guess I'll never know for sure. It was nice finally opening something and finding it better than expected instead of worse!
