Competition DHRA Record To Drop In Houston

Competition Can you do this on the dyno?

While this isn't much of an update, I'll put it out anyways

A CAT Scan revealed a Aneurism in the brain. He si still on a ventilator as he doesn't seam to be able to breath well on his

own.

I'll update as I hear it.

Keep the good thoughts and prayers coming. I'm a firm believer that prayers work.

I first met Nowel going on 5 years ago. Back then, the Little Red Rocket was an indistinct stock 2wd. We met at the first Bay Area Ram Runners meeting in San Jose, CA. He brought a couple of "Breather Bottle" kits to hand out. He did this just because he wanted to give some presents and was excited about the Runners.

Since that time, he has been extraordinarily generous with his time helping those of us less mechanically inclined. I can personally attribute at least 4 Check Engine Light illuminations and one blown intake heater gasket to Nowel's tinkering alone!

My thoughts and best wishes are with you Nowel. You're a strong fellow, and if anyone can pull out of this rough patch it is you!

I wanted to update everyone and answer some questions I have received from many people.

As of now not much has changed from what we can find out. Nowel did have a major brain hemorrhage that has left his right side of his body paralyzed and he has no ability of speech. He is in Critical condition on a ventilator at this point. Nowel's family only consists of his sister and grandmother and his sister is in route to the hospital. Unfortunately there is little anyone can do right now the hospital will not release any meaningful information to anyone other than his sister so I have to wait for updates from her. Thank you to everyone for your thought and prayers only support, time and strong will on Nowel's part is going to pull him through this and his recovery. Huge thanks are owed to Richard (Mad-Dog) as many know him as he is the one that was with Nowel and has been with him at the hospital.

I will continue to update this forum as I gather information that I know is accurate as I know so many want to keep up to speed with his condition.

Also to answer many who asked about flowers at this time I would say that flowers are not appropriate at this time as we are not sure where he will be for his recovery stages and at this point being he is not conscious he cannot enjoy them, however when I find out where he will be and his condition improves I will absolutely post the information on here.

Thanks again everyone for your support we are his extended family as a group and every little bit of positive can only help.

Bad news fer sure. Praying for a speedy recovery. Never met the man,but he always seemed like one of the good guys, read his posts in my ford days at T. D. S. Godspeed partner. ;)

I first got to know Nowell after some PM's about a year ago. He is a good man.

God willing, he will pull thought this with no ill effects.

As with many others on this site, I have never met Nowel; however, I do enjoy his input and expertise, as someone who is dedicated to the TDR and to diesel motorsports.

The TDR will miss Nowel while he recovers, but we know he will be back and stronger than before.

First annual Nowel Thomas Diesel Drags

This is a quote from David, one of the sponsors of the the race this weekend.

The Houston race came about from needing to have a Div 4 finals but more importantly Nowel and I have talked of a year end Diesel bash here in Texas every year. As much as I like racing, Nowel really pushed to make a good show and show the the world how much fun diesel racing could be. After this mornings saddening news I feel compelled to at the very least honor the man that helped make this race happen.

I would like to dedicate this race to him and plan on making this an annual event.

Also from what I understand, Maddog is going to carry-on, and dedicate the race to him.

Just wanted to pass this on.

I talked to Richard about a few hours ago and they were enroute to Ft. Worth where they will stay overnight. Then they'll head south to Houston in the morning.

Here's wishing them a safe ride.

See ya'll tomorrow.
